Sub Stage in 98 Civic Coupe

Alright. I'm really feelin the 8's cause if they move, it'll be cool to be runnin 8's that really do work. At the same time, I don't want to spend any money to be disappointed. Would you say these things will out do your standard "high school, 2 12's" set up; provided the enclosure and power source are there?

easily...

I ran a single DD1508 in my 97 Civic coupe with 1,000 watts RMS and it rocked that car pretty good. NO ONE believed I was running a single 8 until I showed them.

Doing the electrical properly was a royal PITA though. First I went with a ODBI ECU that had ELD programmed out of it and a ODBIIa to ODBI jumper harness. That allowed me to use my 175 amp alternator to its full potential without worrying about the ECU cutting charging voltage.

Edit: If you have your heart set on a 12, I would recommend the Phoenix Gold RSDc 12 as a solid budget choice. I'd also have no problems rocking the Sundown SA-12 in their recommended 1.75 cubic feet net tuned to 30 Hz. Sadly, the Civic coupe's peak transfer frequency is pretty high, so you are going to need to tune your enclosure fairly low to get some decent sub bass in that particular vehicle.

the sa-8s are almost with out question the baddest 8 on the market, ive seen 2 of them do 140.x on just over 1k, they will get loud, not to mention its really fun to see the look on peoples faces when you show them what your actually running. many laughs can be had.

I think if nothing else, I'm sold on the sa-8's. I think my next thing to do is worry more aboutthe enclosure. I'm going to have to get my hands on some good box plans that will accommodate the two subs
