Sub(s) For a SQ3500

A level 6 18 will outright destroy the two XFLs. Even on half power (2 ohms nominal), my dc level 5 18s are still louder than my hdc3s overpowered(1 ohm nominal) so I can only imagine what a 120lb beast like a level 6 can do. Keep in mind level 6 subs are worth 1k new. I love the SQ and loudness of the Zcon but in terms of loudness and shear spl power(still sounds decent) the DC motors are very strong.

Do you have any other suggestions of a single 18 then?

You don't have enough power to get lvl 6 subs moving well don't care any one tells you. Dc says you'll need at least 6k for one to get it somewhat loud

Should still get him in the 150 range easy with a single 18 if he builds his box efficiently to match his power. When he adds more power, it'll get even louder. Its the same with any big sub exept now he's futureproof with subs.

Black friday and snag 2 hdc4's or 2 hdc3's decent sub for the price... Juat last week guy sold on FB 2 BNIB hdc4's 12's for 250 plus ride each....... Even wired down to .5ohm intsead of the 1ohm I assume the AB's are itwill be no difference really were talk a few 100watts. Plus the lower you go the less efficient amps become so might even lose some... Now if going with 1 18 I still see no major improvement other then just a change of setup.. Grab an sp4 18 used for under 400-500 and give it hell but you will need a decent amount of power to get it moving but I still see no difference 2 15's in proper box should be louder than the single 18.. Cone area FTW plus u spread the heat out betwee two drivers over one so longevity comes in to play then... I have a spare TRF "Black" Motor and a 18" tc style basket powder coat with QCA's if interested... Depending on how extreme you go on the softs it could be right at your budget and with the correct quality softs it will **** on almost anything new out right now.. Assuming u got the power and proper box.. The AB's might even have a lot left in them feed them more power and change up the box and tuning before you just say mehh might be leaving a lot on the table with the AB's.....

Did u say a lvl6 18 will destroy two xfls but you have never personally used one? Ur just going off how your lvl5 performs? Just wondering because I hear lots of mixed things about dc Lvl6... My buddy has 4 dc lvl6 18s each on a bc5500 at 1ohm and they hardly move. They don't seem efficient at all. They handle the power great and hardly get warm but just take a ton of power to get loud. I wouldn't get lvl6 unless u have tonnnnns of power to push them.

Not here to fight but , u can't give advice on lvl6 if you never used one. How can you tell him it will destroy two xfls if you never even used one... I just don't understand

Issue is. I've yet to see a box or build without rise so I doubt he'll see anywhere close to 3500 rms which is nothing for a lvl 6 period He'd be better served with a lvl 5

I agree there. Too bad i dont see level 5s for sale atm. Only motors.

The lvl 5 is actually their best sub bar none and the new m3 is designed more for daily applications and listening. With the better cooling and larger spiders
