Sub Rattling

Hey, for some reason my 12" Kicker comp 4 ohm sub keeps rattling when i play my music. It will rattling and it not producing BASS its doing more rattling then the bass. I am wondering why is it doing this? Is it because my box might be too small for it? I am using a truck box because it is in my Ford Ranger.

My friends 10" Kicker comp sounds good and no rattling.

sounds like its blown, what amp and electrical are you using?

pull the sub and check the cone coil connection,,my sub was also rattling i put some goop on it and so far at low power its holding

My sub is not blown and its not time for a new sub because i just got the sub a few months ago! But i got warranty on it.

Anyways the wire i am using it came in a kit, My speaker wire i am using it is not thick at all. If that matters.. I don't think it matters because when we hooked my friends 10" kicker up in my truck it was hitting hard and wasn't rattling! So i think the wires are fine. But i could be wrong..

the wires are fine. Either the spider came loose from the spider landing and it needs reglued or the duscap is loose. Either way it sounds like you need something reglued.

Is that hard to do? I am uploading a video of how it sounds. But the camera is picking up poor sound sense its not a high end camera!

Could you guys tell if i take some pictures of the back of my sub if something needs to be re-glued?

I did not hear rattles.

My subs make noise. no big deal.

You seriosly need to trow more power to those subs. and get a bigger custom box.

pull the sub out and check it. if it rattles and doesnt make bass, then chances are its blown. if its under warranty, go get a new one.

and get a real amp. that amp is crap

Oh, Well i guess it is fine then..

But yeah i need to get a thicker power cord because my amp keeps going into protection mode when the bass hits hard because there is not enough power being pulled. The power cord i am using it for like a 250w amp and i am using it for a 800w amp.

as long as its 8ga its fine...your ground may not be good enough however

My ground screw is stripped like inside the unit. So that could be the problem! Not getting a good ground. But i have the ground on there though but its not tight

how are your gains set?

the reason its going into protect is probably because you have the gains cranked and its pulling too much power to the amp. that will also clip the hell out of the sub, causing it to blow
