Sub powering question

Actually sending twice as much power to a speaker than it can handle will generally result in the driver failing....depending on several factors such as how long you are playing it, box specs, etc etc.

Now, there is a difference between actually powering the subwoofer with 2000w, and simply "having a 2000w amplifier". Just because the amplifier is a 2000w amplifier, doesn't mean you are actually sending that much power to the subwoofer.

drivers react differently to different things... i bet MT's will react a lot better to 5000 rms than a cheap 500rms sub getting 600...

like squeak said, subs don't receive the power you are supposedly feeding it, all the same... i bet most subs don't require 3/4's of the power available to it to produce a bass frequency in most songs...
