ok the subs (see sig) are both pretty new. one of them is about 2 weeks old the other one is about 1 month old.

my gains were set with a dmm btw

one of the subs is making a very low rattling noise //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif .

you can only really hear it if you stick your head down close to the sub.

it still gets really loud.

if i put my dmm to the vc it should read around 4 ohms if its not blown right???

would i use the same setting on the dmm that i used to set my gains??

when i take the box out what should i look for???

since its just a little rattle you think it could be fixed with silicone or something??

im trying to contact the guy that got me the sub and see if i can use the warranty.

btw i got the sub from a friend that works at cc. he got me the employee discount //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif . so im hoping it can be exchanged or repaired

thanks for reading

no ur ohm seting for ur subs. IT the thing that looks like an horse shoe. Take that and touch them to the responsive terminal. The Vc should read like 4 or 3.8 or somewhere in that area. also smell the sub does it have an odor like something is burnt.

Take the sub out and look closely where the spider is glued to the coil, look for any cracks, carefully move the cone up and down and look for any seperation.

99% of the time when someone complains that their Infinity perfect sub is making a rattling noise but the sub still plays loud its because the glue that connects the voicecoil to the spider has failed.

And this is why i got rid of mine.....

well im gonna pull it out tomorrow and investigate. i hope its something very minor.

and if worse comes to worse i can get a brand new one shipped to my door for $59.

i just dont get it the hu was never even turned up to the volume level that would be givving my subs their rms rated power of 700 watts

im positive my gains were set correctly.

hopefully its under warranty

if anyone who reads this works at cc let me know about the warranty i would assume that cc is an authorized dealer. although i bought the sub direct from the warehouse i think.

thanks for reading

what kind of box is it in sealed or ported and have you considered port noise if it is indeed ported. or something could be loose on the box, or the sub.

yeah you may just be having port noise issues. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif good luck bro.

i dont think its port noise cause when i stick my ear up to the other sub it sounds perfectly fine no pun intended, im pretty sure the sub is shot. i guess ill find out tomorrow

ok i just got done listening to the sub again. im gonna have to assume its damaged enough to try to get the warranty. if the warranty falls through then ill try to fix it myself.

this really sucks

one more thing ive got another infinity perfect thats about 4 yrs old and is completly blown.

now if i send the newer sub in for warranty could i stick the old blown sub in the box and just not hook it up??

will it sound like shitt??

btw the box is 2 ft3 and thats with sub displacement

that viper 1200.1 is probly to powerfull for those subs. infinitys are finiky subs when it comes to putting more power to them than the rms.

the amp is only seeing a 2 ohm load and my gains were set with a dmm so the subs are not getting to much power. Infact on most songs with alot of bass i cant even turn the hu up to the volume i had it set on when setting my gains.

anyway when my roomates gf wakes up im gonna grab the tool box and yank the subs out ill take pics maybe one of you guys can spot the problem.

one more thing i have both boxes that the subs came in. is there a number on the box or something that can help me identify which sub is wich??

basicaly im trying to get my friend a cc to send it in for repair but im not sure if the sub thats messed up is the one i got from cc or online.

thanks for the replies
