Sub not working....

i sold my type r to a friend, and i got it all hooked up the other night. i know it was working because well... i heard it! i get a call from my buddy last night and he says its not working anymore...

he says it was working fine... he turned off his car, two hours later he turns it back on and it no longer works... i checked all the connections (except the sub out on the head unit), nothing is loose, i checked all the fuses, the amp turns on... but no sound coming from the sub... what could've happened? if it was blown it'd still make some noise right?

Why not check the rca's if their loose there's ur prob.

one time my subwoofers didnt work when i turned on the car. The fuse looked alright so i went to Sound Advice. Turned out i did blow the fuse, but it blew so slightly u couldnt tell it was blown. He popped another one in there and it worked again. Try swapping the fuse and see if that works.

how would i be able to tell if the sub is locked up? i mean... when i push down on the cone it moves... suspension is still stiff... doesnt smell funky...

if one of the fuses were blown would the amp still be able to turn on?

i think im just gonna take his sub and hook it up to my amp... and if that doesn't work.... *sigh* im gonna have to give him his money back...

no, its probably a bad power connection or a short that caused either a fuse to blow or the amp to break

^^ i'd re-check everything...just had it happen to me and was the fuses as well...try hooking the amp up to another sub, just to make sure if its the sub or amp...

well the sub works... i closely inspected all the fuses. im thinking it may be a faulty amp as it was a refurb... had a 90 day warranty though. my buddy is gonna take his dash apart and see if theres anything that came loose from the head unit...

yes i did, everything was snug.

he's just gonna swap the amp using the existing wiring. if it doesnt work, its faulty wiring... if it does work, its a faulty amp... should work right?

Check all RCA connections. If the amp turns on, and you know the sub works, then that means the amp has no signal to amplify. The amp could be faulty, but you should check RCA connections and try a different RCA cable before ditching the amp.
