your sony sub displays max power. that 1000 watts on the alpine is rms power. never look at the max power on anything. rms power is all that matters.

yeah, um you may have blown your sub...not sure how many straight up volts the sony will take.

the amplifier takes a very small amount of sound from your headunit and basically makes it very loud and then sends it to your speaker

im looking for a good amp for you right now

im gonna get a sub that will handle 800 watts in a few weeks. I guess i shoulda never got sony. I searched it on forums and everyone said theyre bad.

Power handling alone isn't a particularly good indicator of how good a sub will be in its final install.

Do you have an amp capable of feeding a sub 800 watts continuous power?

the new sonys are really kinda bad. not really good for even a starter setup. i would say alpine type r is good for a starter
