Ok, first i am going to give you guys my setting on my amp and head unit so you can understand this better.

Head unit:

bass boost: 0

Sub Crossover: 0

Sub Amp:

Bass boost: 0

Input Sensitivity: 2.2v because my head unit is 2.2v. ( about 30 percent)

Anyways, my alpine type r's will barely even move even on rap songs. I turn my volume to full tilt and it almost sounds like the subs don't exist. Does anybody know why the subs seems to be underpowered. I mean, its a type r. They should get pretty loud. but they don't.

basically, my gain on my amp is set at 25 or 30 percent and the sub barely does anything. Should i turn the gain all the way up on my amp because i can barely hear the sub.

yes, turn the gain ALL the way up. does the trick every time, especially on the type Rs because i mean after all it is a type R.

i wasn't being serious.

but seriously, you def. want your voltage higher than 2.2v.

its sqrt of wattage times ohms. thats the number you want your voltage at.

then volume at 3/4 on a 0db 55-75hz test tone and turn the gain up until you get the # you just figured out above. SW output on the HU all the way up and all artificial enhancers off or as low as possible.

not to thread jack...but you would recommend turning sw settin on head units all the way up?

in doing that would i bypass another artificial amplification or add artificial amplification (creating more distortion)
