Sub cutout

look at the pic of my W6 below...

the cut out diameter is how big you want to make the hole in your sub box from one side to the other. your owners manual should tell you how large to make this hole.

if you are going to use a compass to draw your circle divide the cut out diameter in half to get the radius.

to make your box flush mount you'll want to now measure the flush mount diameter so you can build another baffle to put on top of the regular baffle your box already has. most of the time the manual will also tell you this measurement. i usually cut them out so spec to give it a clean look but you can make it a little bigger than the woofer if you want.

lastly, if you really want a clean look measure the how deep the mounting flange is on your sub and get a piece of wood about the same thickness. so the sub doesnt stick out too much or it isnt sunk in too deep.

i think the alpine X and R subs have a pretty think rubber surround on their mounting flanges so another panel of 3/4 MDF should do the trick.

Jasper circle jig for the router. If you have a router I highly suggest one. Once you use it, you might end up smacking yourself for not getting it sooner //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

haha u can see threw the surround? what material is that?
Like they said it's the grill. W6 doesn't have the surround covering everything like the W7 does. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
