Not cotton balls..Polyfil (pillow stuffing) It will help minimize standing waves and if the box is too small can change the resonant freq of a sub but only by a little bit. Polyfil will be a lot cheaper for the quantity of it.
resonent frequency? sorry, I'm new to this, but what does that mean? You also said if my box is to small...my box won't be to small //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Also, where can I get polyfil? Home depot? Thanks!
ok resonant freq. is likewhat freq the sub resonates or vibrates at
and when you put polyfill in your box it makes it seem bigger to the sub because the sound waves are slowed down when they go through the polyfil making the box bigger than what it actually is.
you can get it from crutchfield but if you want to go the cheap route you can check out craft or fabric stores
other stores probably sell it too but i know of the craft stores for sure.
so if my subs require 1.0 cubic ft of space, then I could get away with like a .90 cubic ft box stuffed with that stuff and it sound pretty much the same? I do have limited trunk space, but if it's going to change it to much I'll still keep the bigger box.
