Sub bottoming out?

9 times out of 10, you can solve a bottoming out problem by using a sub-sonic filter, or de-tuning the lower frequencies, in order to keep excursion in check........whether it be a stretched suspension, or oversized box........ it's pretty easy to feel good about telling people over the internet to buy new siht, or turn it down over the internet, but doesn't it feel better to let people know when they are not totally fcuked, and there is options? why not ride out the sub and replace/re-cone when it really sihts?

bb offheadunit at flat

ss filter dosent matter its in a sealed box

back off ur gain a lil or get a better sub. sounds like you already beat the spider and it wont come back or stiffen up. once you strech it to bottom out it will get there easier each time...
its not hard to bottom out the mb rwe's when they are new, the 10 in that was my first sub, and ive ran the 12 as well, you just have to be careful with them.

poor design if ur bottoming a sub out easly, this isnt the early 90s,lol.

akheathen; i shouldnt have to explain myself, i have helped and hooked up sooo many people on this forum. i ss filter is gonna do you no good in a sealed enclosure unless the enclosure isnt built properly and is too big or leaks air. he wont be happy with what he has because he is already pushing past its limits.

to show leap of faith here if dude pays shipping i send him a mint ol school pb black 12" that will be perfect for him, pm me bro...

well, props for givin out the sub........ but i'll still believe in sub-sonic filters as an optional tool. one thing though- assuming it's a current modle sub, it has an x-max to x-mech ratio of .7:1 which will make it naturally prone to bottoming out, and it may fair well in a .5box......, and it's shallow mount. is mounting depth an issue? i'm asking, because i may be interested in buying the mb-quart for my cousin's single cab s-10. i can get it online for $40 shipped, but i figure it will help with the shipping on the powerbass 12,,,, just as long as it's not scratching from former damage.

Okay. If you believe this that's fine but don't ask others to subscribe to it. If you've ever had those results in the past, it's because you were suffering from a DC offset problem with your amplifier. Swapping negative and positive leads does the same thing as flipping a phase switch on amplfiiers with that option, it simply inverts the wave form and nothing more. The sole purpose of which, is to facilitate a good phase relationship between the subbass and the midbass.
how do you fic a DC offset problem? i think i have it with my mtx thunder 6500D.

oh....... got the model/year or pic? still might be interested.......as a matter of fact, i just found my stack of box plates the other day, which have been mia for years, lol.
