hey

i have a vw golf mk4 2001, its a hatchback and im soon to put in my new sub, so i was wondering if i would need sound dedening in the boot and in the tailgate. im gona be running a RE SX 15" in a 3.5cube box tuned to 35Hz. what is a good sound dedener anyways

Ive heard that soundskin is a good deadener. you dont NEED it, deadener is always an option. Its going to sound better but its not NEEDED, plus deadener can be expensive, all depends what you want though. Also dynamat is good

I have used both Dynamat and SecondSkin. IMO, second skin takes the win for both quality and price. Like they said, you don't really need it. But I can say this, I like to listen to my systems before and after getting it put in, I could defin. tell a difference in my system. It was a necessity for me though, being that I have a blowthrough in my truck. Didn't want to hear all the outside workings of my truck as I drove.

I've used edead v1 and v3. It works well. But the only other thing I have used was the basic dynamat.

A few friends have used peel and seal from lowes with good results.

On my next car I'd like to try some second skin
