ok i got a new car and the door speakers are not the greatest. when you have the bass turned up they sound like crap!

so i was wondering would to work to install a in wire filter that lets only the high notes through. it would be like the filter on some amps have that just play the bass but it would be the oppestet.

i would just put these on the 4 speakers that are in the doors and let my 2 subs provide all the bass. has anyone done this? it will save me a lot of money insted of buying good quality door speakers:veryhapp:

thanks!

Yes, would be an inline passive crossover.. there are different kinds.. the kinds you see on component sets, others that are inline RCA filters for pre-amp and those that you can plug inline on the speaker terms..

but be sure to check rms power though.. if you put too much power through them.. youll fry them..

so i would at least at min get some that are at least the max rating of the source output.. and in all honesty i would get ones that can handle at least double the max output of the source..

Youll want to get a hz roll off on it matched up.. so depending on how shitty your speakers are/sound normally youd want to cut off like 100ish or a little higher.. but in the case of stock.. you might want higher than that..

why not just turn the bass down on the stereo?

Subwoofers before a good front stage is built = fail.
Thats how every car newbie does it. They get excited about bass, then realize their front stage isnt good enough. Thats how I started. Not the best but if you arent an audio buff it happens.

What model deck do you have. Some nicer head units have a high pass filter. Check to see if your unit has this and see if you cant turn it to 60-80hz. This will only send the higher notes to the front speakers.

If not you can get bass blockers Bass Blockers Pairs at Crutchfield.com

This will work for the time being but you may as well replace your head unit and get a nicer one that will do this for you because if youre going to take the trouble to pull the speakers to do this then you may as well get better front stage speakers. I wouldnt recommend getting better door speakers till you have a better deck though.

A "system" is a bit more than subs and an amp. Its your front stage, rear stage, source unit, sub stage.

Most important is a good head unit though. A good source unit will provide better midbass and clearer sound. It will also push a cleaner signal to your subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

i got some bass blockers from the audio store in town for 5 bucks a pair and i put them in and they worked elimitnated the bass. my head unit is a jvc-g430 does that have the thing on it?

thanks
