Soundqubed hds212.. ****

soundqubed are in no way low end monsters. They will play it but not strong.
for some reason people recommended these woofers and he wanted boosted lowend. it was just the wrong sub for the job. not that the woofer is trash but i still think its cheap Chinese drivers regardless.

i recommended he look into something else like a SS dcon which will have MUCH better lowend

this is a much more realistic frequency response with the parameter shifts. without cabin gain which is typically in such a cabin +6/octave starting at about 50hz.

you also have to remember the truch/cabin have independent gains and acoustics as well. the trunk is peaking much higher. probably about 150hz-250. thats why most companies dont bother with parameters

I have some things to say-

I used to run Audioque and i was one of the first people to get their original HD3s back when they were coming off the line bad from the get go..

I was also one of the first people to get their 2200d that also came off the line bad from the get go..

I say that first to let you know how far back i go with them as a customer.

Now, i have owned both the original HDS15 and 2 HDC312s.

Both have this sound that sounds like the sub is ALWAYS past xmax.. like the sound is never linear..

I can attest to that by simply swapping them out with... well anything, lol.

Anything sounded better than what they sound like.

Now, onto box size..

Papermaker says he calculated 5.1cuft for 2 12s?

I do not know who told the OP to build that big but Soundqubed subs will FAIL in Frequency Response if built large like that!

Putting them in boxes like that will only give them a usable passband of like 10-15hz, i'm not kidding..

So.. to get a better passband.. for example, i had my 2 hdc312s in 3.8cuft NET tuned to 36hz, it did well from 32-55hz.

the woofers do put up decent numbers metering in the mid to high 40s though, lot of 1st place news in soundqubed only facebook group.

Got news for ya buddy. Most popular brands are made in China. Some assembled here in America.

You might wanna rethink that statement when bashing a company or a driver again.

i honestly think you miss a-lot of the sub-woofer/speaker discussions. I've probably used more build-houses than you know exist(im not trying ot be cocky im letting you know i know about the subject)

china CAN make good stuff if you get the right build-house and the right engineers.

i know who builds the woofers and the design concept. that being said they are meant to be higher output drivers and NOT MEANT TO BE TUNED LOW IN SMALL BOXES. that being said the quatitly IMO has gone down since they first started.

maybe you should participate is the discussions more often..

Didn't know I had to join a sub discussion just to know where companies' sub drivers are made lol

I got better things to do with my time and some of us work. I'll catch up on the news later.

it is the simple the driver isn't ideal for the application. its that easy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

These partucilar woofers have a faily weak motor and a very stiff suspension. Its just not a great design for lowend.

This is the type of stuff.im talking about, and one reason I hesitate to try and market/sell anything online. People have good intentions but lack the knowledge to make the apporiate recommendations.

The the sound cubes aren't bad they actually pretty decent and what they meant to do but it's all too often that they get recommended in the wrong application along with nearly every other speaker.

As far as the SD HDC3 they have a lot stronger motor you can tell by the lower qes and more mms so they are much better suited to smaller enclosures.

Also. Once pass power through the coils parameters shift. Motor strength goes down so qes rises. Depending on how much can make a huge difference.
