Someone please explain this...

How the **** does putting a stupid plastic spider logo and "SOUNDSTREAM" on the same product make it good?
It doesn't.

Most things on the market today are repackaged cheap goods from a Chinese build house. The Chinese make the boards, the manu-packagers each choose their own case, they get different boxes, and they end up being sold on-line for a dime a watt. With few exceptions, Chinese made amplifiers are not bespoke products and you're really paying for the sticker on the case. I don't blame anyone for painting Chinese goods with a broad brush and calling it all junk. Part of the problem are vendors looking to maximize ROA. The other part of the problem, which is the biggest problem BTW, is the end user. Ask yourself how many threads have been made on this forum looking for X amount of 'watts' for under $200.

People want cheap amps...and that's what Soundstream is giving them.

I think it's because exo's youtube vids of him running the SS high end gear. The youtube heros have a lot of influence over people these days. That's why there are tons of flex vids. it's why people don't laugh johnathan price right out of town.

This is so painfully true.

i honestly started off with PA, never used SS but seen & heard the xxx sub & amp.(im not tryna be bashed for this but if so, be my guest i could care less). didnt know very much, but i thought i did. joined here and everyone was bashing PA. so i kinda turned on it. however. IMO, i dont think all their stuff if junk. yes there are way better products to be had i figured that out when i switched up. but for $ its not that bad.example the bamf5500. does not do 3200rms. however it will do 2k - 2300rms(ive seen them clamped & that came from 14.4v @ rise 1.01-35hz ), and can be had for about $230 or so. so on a 1 sub setup as in mine, cannot be the bad of a amp. but again thats IMO.

anyone who expects to pay 280 dollars for 2500w and have the best amp in the game, is an idiot. However, SS Rubi amps are great for the money. I'm sorry you're mad that people like SS but there's a reason for it.

Power Acoustik makes loud, cheap speakers and amps that make enough power for the price. They wont blow you away with their SQ by any means, but 3/4 car audio enthusiasts either never drive their woofers to a level where they can really tell, or they just dont care. How many times have you seen a car with 6x9's in the grille and 8 pairs of 6.5's and thought "wow, that sounds awesome!"? I'll guess never, but the owner still loves their stereo most of the time. Their newer stuff is actually looking better, I think they have responded to some criticisms. I personally dont like sound stream mids/highs/coax's. However, their subs and class D amps do get loud and make enough power for the money. When it comes to SQ of a subwoofer, it is 90% the enclosure design.

Your quality of equipment reflects your lifestyle. Guys that run junky gear are impulse buyers. They can't set goals, save, and ultimately achieve their goals. They get a little money in their pockets and they go spend it on sub-par stuff. You don't need to be rich to have nice gear. You just need to learn how to save money. I've heard it all over the years. "I have school. I have kids. I have this i have that." I don't have kids but I've had every other hardship you could think of and have always ran the exact gear I wanted. I am not rich. I set a goal, and I set out to reach it. Nothing short of that will do.

This is why I **** people in the lanes with a street box and 2 15's. I beat up on walls like there is no tomorrow. I beat up on guys clamping 4x the power I do.

You guys saying this crappy gear is ok because it's cheap... what are you doing on a car audio forum? Why are you among enthusiasts if this cheap crap will do? Seriously. You are no enthusiast. You are weak.

Sorry rocky, I'm happy that you've fought cancer and battled AIDS, still lived to tell the tale, and beat up on the big guys, but how can you say we're not enthusiasts because we don't want to spend as much as you? Not only is what you said arrogant, but it's asinine, you do not get to label who is and who isn't an enthusiast based on what gear they run.

im not about to argue. i dont see a point. i gave an opinion, as far as liking the stuff i never said that. the amp i have now is temp for off season & replaced my sundown saz 2000 that was stolen. im saving for a sundown saz 2500 now

That's another point, alot of people have temporary build while they save for nicer equipment. For instance, my plan is to buy a Rubi2500 and start saving and building up my electrical for an AQ3500.

True dat

The saving part at least lol

I think people get too caught up on the actual paper performance of things when what they should be worried about is whether or not the product they are buying/using fits their needs. I love my 2500 and it does everything I need it to. It may be rated at 14.4 while I'm running at 14.0 but I'm losing maybe 200w which honestly makes hardly any difference especially in a daily driver setup. Gains are set for 2kw using a 50Hz -3dB test tone, the sub is a 3" 4 layer coil and I've never smelled it once even after playing lows full tilt for 10+ minute. Either the cooling is insane good or the amp is putting out clean power. I'm going to put my money on the latter.

If the product fits your needs and your budget I don't see why it is bad. There will always be cheaper brands and there will always be more expensive brands. Not everyone has the money to spend on a sundown or a dc amp. You can say what you want about each company and that is your opinion which I whole heartedly respect, but don't go off saying a company is trash because they aren't absolute top-of-the-line, especially if you've never even used the product before.

(I'm not directing this towards anyone specific, this is a message for everyone..)
