So last month i noticed something in my spare tire well area rattling pretty bad but i couldn't quite place my finger on it. It got worse over the course of the month. Then recently the bad rattling went almost completely away which caught my attention. i did some snooping around and this is what i found.......

im guessing there was already a small fracture or just a really weak spot and the violent shaking over a 3 month period just ripped it wide open. As of now i think i'm just going to get some deadener and put an oversized patch over the fractured area on both sides of the tire well. Any other suggestions lol?

ur bass couldnt have done that.
get it welded tight. thats it
i mean it couldnt have caused the fracture, but if there was a fracture there it could have easily worked that fracture open to where it is now. that part of the car takes alot of force from the sound waves coming through the trunk

if it already had a little crack and you put your batteries in the well, then sure, overtime the weight would reak havoc and increase the crack.

Duct Tape... Seriously

just clean the spots before you place it...
oh yeah i now that. anything done down there will require alot of cleaning.

no batteries in the well besides the stock one, but thats on the far other side of the well (closer to the trunk side)

ive looked under my car while full tilt before any damage was audible and i'm telling you that thin metal down there oscillates just as hard as my roof/windshield. that thin metal flexes, and just like a small crack in a windshield major flex will rip it apart.
