For everyone saying to weld it: when I was running 3 MJ-18's in my truck, the hole from my bedcut that I previously used started to come apart from the low notes I was playing...started rusting and everything...be sure it's welded VERY well. Mine had a solid weld all the way around the ~12" tall by ~36" wide hole that was previously there.

I hope the welding works for you..

one of my boys in tampa has a welder. im just affraid of the weld not holding with all the bass. it's an easy 145dB around 40-45Hz and the trunk takes the abuse really hard. hell my trunk release button stopped working the 2nd day after i got the btl in there. only opens via car key...which might be a good thing to hinder thieves lol.

when it comes to welding sheet metal, it's really hard to get a good weld without blowing a hole though it with the welder. maybe a little renforcment would be in order?

big piece of metal on the inside of the well to support that area? which is the best kind of metal to use that easily accessible and not too expensive? possible scrap metal for free off craigslist?

eather that or go to the junk yard. it didn't look that bad to have to form it to the bottom. u might try something like JB weld first. if that dosn't hold. grind it off and go with the welding.

if the welder is good at what he does it will rip the sheet-metal else where before the weld breaks

should i sand off the edges of the crack in case any little bit of rusting has started?

Absolutely. The cleaner it is the better the welds gonna take. Plus your helping yourself against further corrosion etc..

Tack weld, seam sealer or the right epoxy, done.

It would be a good idea to tack another piece from inside there to brace it also, then put some deadener over it.

Drill a hole at the end of each crack to keep it from cracking further till you get it fixed.
