As the title says, I knew this was gonna happen. So I'm and old man now and been out of car audio for a few yrs. Haven't had the drive, desire or the vehicle for the hobby anymore. Well, now I've taken over my father's 06 F150 supercrew because he's no longer able to drive. And what's the first thing I start thinking of? Car audio lol. Guess no matter how old we get, if it's in you it's in you. So my original plan was to just get a radio, replace the door speakers and throw a couple of 10's under the seat. Most of the equipment I already have. Well, I was going to get a pair of drop in 6x8 Coaxials but now I'm wondering if 6.5 components are the way to go? Hence my dilemma... I'm seemingly going diwn a rabbit hole i had no intentions of. Wanted to do something cheap that sound halfway decent. But now I'm lookong at expensive $hit. So for you folks that's been doing this a long time, which way should I go? 6x8 Coaxials or a component set? Will probably just do the front stage and not worry about the rear doors. Which will free up more money for a better quality set. That's until I change my mind lol. Any input would be appreciated. I'm gonna be using a jl 300/4 the original one.

I recently listened to the AudioControl PNW 6x8 point source coaxial and was pretty impressed. Not inexpensive, but pretty good sounding nonetheless. If you want to go with components, I've got a very good used set of one of the best sounding 5x7's out there, the Image Dynamic 5x7 midbass (crossed at 300-2k for rear fill duty only) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004XWL02S/?tag=caraudiocom-20 and a brand new set of AudioControl PNW 1 - 1" silk dome tweeters, https://stingersolutions.com/produc...q5UxrAn82pEU9hQDXqgEArgkw8LXZaJ7IoXQyNVCbzpMo $180.00 for the both of them - shipped to the lower 48.
