You would be surprised how much SQ can improve -inside- the car once you tackle rattles outside it. And yes expanding foam can be a great sound deadening product, so long as you are very very careful with it as was said above. The quarter panels of my blazer are completely filled with the expanding foam. The road noise difference with that change alone was dramatic, being its a closed cell foam (dramatic to me at least, I know sound deadening changes are usually pretty subtle). It also make the whole truck just seem more solid having those cavities filled. But I also risked popping my truck's quarter panels out like a balloon. I wouldn't suggest using it unless you know what you're doing.
