So I Thought My System Sounded Good...

You would be surprised how much SQ can improve -inside- the car once you tackle rattles outside it. And yes expanding foam can be a great sound deadening product, so long as you are very very careful with it as was said above. The quarter panels of my blazer are completely filled with the expanding foam. The road noise difference with that change alone was dramatic, being its a closed cell foam (dramatic to me at least, I know sound deadening changes are usually pretty subtle). It also make the whole truck just seem more solid having those cavities filled. But I also risked popping my truck's quarter panels out like a balloon. I wouldn't suggest using it unless you know what you're doing.

IMO Saturns seem to be one of the worst cars for rattles.

some cars are just IMPOSSIBLE to stop rattling, regardless of how much deadener you use. my car for example, people on the maxima forums have been deadening the sh!t out of their cars for years and no one, NO ONE has gotten one to be silent. impossible i tell you. i just live with it, roll down the windows so there's less rattle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

hey do u have a spare tire well under the trunk? maybe got tools, carjack, or any other things laying in the spare tire well? i bought my car used and after installing my system my car would rattle. the good thing is the things that were rattling were like 100 pennies in the trunk and it just so happens they would rattle to one corner and every week i would go to that corner and find a bunch of pennies i never knew were in the car. they were all rusted and corroding so you know theyve been in damp parts of the car you never see. hahah. anyway my rattle is gone.. except for my license plate and plastic trim interior panels.

dork
he has a sub in a sealed box

And that linear air piston would be a SS Rl-p, in a 1.25cuft acoustic suspension enclosure

trunk rattle 101.

put a bandana or 2 behind your plate.

actually today at work i was pretty much taping up wires in my truck and securing lose parts. i cut my rattle down by 80%.

I used great stuff expanding foam on my infiniti's trunk lid. Zero rattles and the bass is so **** clean in that car.
Only thing you want to worrk about is putting to much foam. I put a bit to much packen in there and when it expandid it warped my trunk lid a little. You have to use it with caution. Using some type of sound deadner will also work and be much safer.

Where would I spray this stuff?

Your going to want to sound deaden the trunk first. See if that helps. If you still need more than great stuff will work.

Insert the tube aplicator that comes with the foam in to these points and let her rip. Remeber start very small It will expand a great deal. And lay down some plastic for any runoff that may occur.

It will take a couple days to fully dry depending on how much you use. If you use it very lightly should only take about an hour to dry. The middle parts were still wet one week after for me as they were pretty much air tight and could not dry. So I had a couple leak problems. But I also over did it a bit.

I just really dont want to spend close to $100 just to get rid of the rattles, so a $5 can of the foam seems like a good idea...

I really feel like the rattle is coming from under my car.

I feel like this piece is rattling or something. I have no idea what to do or how to fix it..

I guess I am just destined to have a car that sounds like *** until you actually sit in it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif
