...Until I stepped out of my car

Inside my car, my system sounds great. It hits everything and hits real loud. But outside of the car, you hear nothing buy my highs and my trunk falling apart. I just went outside and figured out that if I can find a way to better secure my license plate (its only help on by 2 screws and there are 2 other holes) it will get rid of the metal sounding rattle. But even when I was holding the license plate down, it was still rattling liek crazy. It almost sounded as though it was coming from underneath my car. Any idea whats going on?

Also, if I do figure out whats wrong and fix it, is it going to change any of the sound in the car? Or will it just stop making my car sound like @ss on the outside.

Btw, my car is a 1995 Saturn SC2

ask people with the same car as you, it takes a lot of time and effort to find and subdue rattles but if someone can tell u where to look it will help alot.

Do you listen to your music from outside of the car? If not I wouldn't worry about it. The license plate wouldn't be hard to fix.

Rattling means you got some good hitting bass (or some very unstable framework on your vehicle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Maybe try firing it a different way, sound deadening material... besides that, who really cares...

I agree. Its just that, before I had subs, I would always laugh when I heard someone drive by and all I heard was rattling.

I just don't want to be that person //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

I mean on the inside, it soudns great, which is all I really care about... But if I could fix it so you heard no rattles, or at least heard bass over the rattles...

OMFG you all want rattles???? LOL!!!

It is probably your muffler shaking like a mofo. My exhaust makes a bit of noise from my bass.

Buy some sound deadener and get to work. For the license plate put some rubber washers in-between the plate and the car when you screw it in.

yea I feel ya mang...my Z rattles like a biotch...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bawling.gif.6287aa5d1d447c8af063fc9466e822ef.gif I need to dynamat/eDead/Second Skin it in someway

o ok this is REALLY CHEAP and corny fix to the license plate...I put scotch tape behind mine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif works like a charm and no one notices it

LOL.....sucks to be you guys. I can have my stereo on balls to the wall, and it sounds stock from the outside with absolutely no audible rattles //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/moon.gif.9d317aec3339ffe7fde0638df52c628a.gif

Anyways; foam behind the license plate will stop it's rattling. And, as trigger mentioned, if you have anything underneath your car rattling, you either need to tighten up the bolts holding it on, or live with it.

Okay...

So i need to get rubber washers or somethign to keep my license plate from moving..

I need to tighten bolts and stuff..

Will expanding spray foam or a similar product sparyed into the crevices on my trunk lid help at all?

the whole back end of my car rattles like crazy. No joke rear fenders, window, trunk, wing, bumper, license plate, tail lights, everything rattles. You can literally see the trunk lid flex along with the rear window. gonna fix this someday when i getta chance.

I used great stuff expanding foam on my infiniti's trunk lid. Zero rattles and the bass is so **** clean in that car.

Only thing you want to worrk about is putting to much foam. I put a bit to much packen in there and when it expandid it warped my trunk lid a little. You have to use it with caution. Using some type of sound deadner will also work and be much safer.
