Silverado DDZ build

Got the third pipe threaded and installed. Hopefully I'll be able to do the last one tomorrow and resin the rest of the box

Yup I knew that from my construction days . Don't you know any plumbers ? They have power threaders and so do most hardware stores the smaller ones like Ace and true. Value ?

Nope, don't know any plumbers.

I asked at Menards if they cut and threaded the pipe, and they said they didn't do that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

$1.50 a thread would be sooooooo worth it.
The die I bought to thread it cost $50 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif and it is a pain in the ass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/pissed.gif.9f665f96bc89e98e708dabd4580bb591.gif
with $23 i can thread upto 600 small pipes that size in a hour //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Should have just shipped it to me and i would have done it in a machine :p

Hurry up with the build i wanna see a video of outcome.

Dang, and thanks. Hoping to get the box done tonight

Look at it this way, you're getting a workout. From that pic you posted you can definitely use one. Box is looking great!

Lol, I could use it. I'm not playing football this year and don't have a gym class because I wanted to take Physics. I don't lift anymore

Around here Home Depot threads pipe!
I love home depot. We had one in my home town, and went there for everything.

Here, our two options are Menards and Lowes. I used to go to Lowes for everything. Then they built a Menards. Everything is cheaper at Menards and they have a better selection of wood

I called in to work today so I can hopefully get my box and driver's side door done. The inside is now braced with the following:

Top to bottom- Two 2x4's and a threaded pipe

Front to back- 2x4 and threaded pipe

Side to side- Threaded pipe

Port: Threaded pipe

I just need to finish coating the inside with resin. Then the box is done!

You give up on the pipe ? ? why 2x4 s ?

You give up on the pipe ? ? why 2x4 s ?
1. I had 2x4's laying around

2. Threading the pipe was a pain in the ass

3. Nobody is going to be able to see the inside when the subs are mounted

4. My box was plenty big, so the extra volume 2x4's take up wasn't an issue.

5. I returned the two pipes I didn't use and was able to buy duct tape and another flange.

I am adding one more threaded pipe front to back.

I lengthened the port to 43 inches now. The box is now about 17 cubes after bracing and still tuned to roughly 27hz. Port area per cube is now slightly more than 16 square inches //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm also currently adding a 45 to the corner of the port, and then sanding the inside edge

Nice sounds like it's going to be loud ! Keep up the good work ! I am working hard too trying to put in nut cert in my back wall and its hot and a lot of work to but will pay off

will that pipe slap against the wood if its not secured? never built a large enclosure so i really have no idea. just seems like it would
It's solid, but I was going to wrap fabric covered in resin around each intersection to add strength.

A few changes of the plan.

1. I'm not even messing with that last threaded pipe

2. Adam is going to resin the inside of my box for me

3. I'm getting Tantric drop ins for my Z's. Murphy promised I will get them by Monday the 21st.
