i also think its a good idea but will only help so much. I think im getting scammed right now by this lightningbolt44 cause i still have no proof of the sub being shipped and its been a month i saved all his pm's. Supposibly the sub got lost in the mail and it got shipped back to him but he never gave me a tracking number. Can someone do anything to check his name out and waht not? He has good feedback but still, this is a little sad........... Last i heard from him he said he was sick......
File a claim with paypal. or call the local authorities.

As far as checking on his name. The only thing that could tell you is if he has another username.

Agreed on pix with name/date and prices.

If you're not a scammer, then I don't see why it'd be so hard to take pix. Sure it's a small inconvenience, but in the end it'll be better for all of us.

i've never bought anything on the internet without pictures of what i'm getting and i probably never will. having prices listed isn't really a big concern to me, but those "hey i might sell my system so is there any interest?" feeler threads are pretty stupid. either its up for sale or its not.

you can get a cheap digital camera from walmart for 20 bux so there's no real reason i can think of not to have pics. unless your lazy

people are selling gear to get $$$

perhaps some cant afford one?

and perhaps they cant get access to a scanner?

what if the item needs to sell ASAP?

things you have to think about before coming to an assumption that they're just lazy.

No, I don't mind asking for pics and price if I am interested in buying. Besides if they have valid refs, I would trust they aren't trying to scam me.
Satan had valid references before he did what he did and then after it was done he came back to talk smack to the person he scammed! References only mean so much and for some strange reason alot of people seemingly fail to bother to check them before dedicating their $$$ to a purchase. I do not know if it is too much trouble to send out a few PMs to check the validity of the reference or what... (and is part of the reason the references listed in my signature are hotlinked to the appropriate threads so anyone interested won't have to PM anyone)

I vote Yes on pictures with an additional requirement being that the pics include something to prove that the seller in question actually has the item in their possession at the time they are trying to sell it. (the slip of paper showing a username, the current date, and the name of the forum like is already regular practice for some works for me)

This will not eliminate all scamming ~ there is no way to guarantee or force a dishonest person to actually ship out any given item(s) once they have taken receipt of the buyer's cash but I do think that it will slow it down considerably.

Also ~ what about requiring pictures that in some way indicate that an item is in usable condition? (if that is the way it is presented for sale...gear in need of repair would obviously be exempt from this requirement)

Such as: pictures of subs/speakers for sale should include a DMM reading on the coil(s) to show that they measure the appropriate resistance reading(s). Head units for sale should show a picture of the unit powered up and playing, maybe? Amps for sale should at the very least have pictures of the unit's power-on indicator lit up? Certainly these are nothing more than me pulling ideas out of thin air but I cannot see where they would be that difficult to follow if the seller's motivations are legitimate and the item(s) for sale are truly as represented...

Just my $0.02.

I dont see how proving something is in your possesion is gonna stop scammers at all, honestly.

I mean you guys are talking about making things difficult on e1, when ya still let plenty of shit heads sell on here....that shouldnt even be allowed to buy imo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.

If people dont have common sense, they're gonna get scammed period. Look at the "cd player" livinlife(i think) bought. Gonna make people open up sealed packages and take pics of each item in there? And if they dont, will there item be removed?

The pix also verify the condition of the thing for sale.

Also, would you rather buy something from someone with pix or without?

Won't buy anything w/o pics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. But I also wont buy something off someone I wouldnt trust. Therefore, imo...no need for name date etc with each pic. Not a HUGE waste of time, but I don't really see it helping. Also, I have plenty of refs from higher $ sales. If someone doesnt trust me, thats cool....they can piss off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.
