I would think we would all agree that no one likes to get scammed, and there is an alarming amount of people scamming and being scammed at the moment. This seems mainly because of gulibility of alot of honest hard working people, and the natural desire to look want to get a good deal on used equipment off of a fourm - and trust the seller with their time and money.

Recent threads about scammers has prompted me to suggest again to the mods that there should be pictures of the equipment along with prices for every bit of equipment sold on the fourm. This is currently on the mod's list of considerations to inact in e-law for this forum, so now is your time to voice your opinion on the topic by voting in this thread.

Already being discussed in the Backroom ... for the, what, must be fifth or sixth time now.

Hopefully this thread can have some sort of decent discussion. Heh, what the **** am I thinking.

I agree 100% that things need to be modified in some way to help protect both buyers and sellers, but with traffic as high as it is here, it'll be tough and it makes most worthwhile ideas seem useless when you sit back and think about it.

sounds pretty good, may i ask why the price though?
i understand the pics part, but the price part, not so much.
Jntar told me this was one of the decisions on the ballot for the mods....I suspect to reduce the amount of useles "feeler" threads, and threads that contain multiple "how much for the subs" posts...If it was just posted the first time, some of the moron-a-thon would be lowered. This is of course speculation on my part //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

No, I don't mind asking for pics and price if I am interested in buying. Besides if they have valid refs, I would trust they aren't trying to scam me.

ahh good point.

Absolutely!!!

All items should have SN, price, item sold, date and Caraudio.com written on them IN EVERY PICTURE.....and if they don't the thread should be locked!!!

This is how the Mazda forum opperates and it makes it much safer and more integritus place to buy and sell.

I think pics and price are a good idea but dont think they will stop scammers. Anyone can post a pic, and price means nothing othyer thwan lets me know right up front if its in my price range. I would adopt heatware.com as a reference site, along with trollhunters coming aboard to work on tracking down these scammers. Alot of the top computer forums use this and they get just as much if not more traffic than here.

i think it should be a pic of the item, then a pic of the item again with a peice of paper and the person interested to buy screen name on that paper, at least shows the person has it, who knows if they will send though

i also think its a good idea but will only help so much. I think im getting scammed right now by this lightningbolt44 cause i still have no proof of the sub being shipped and its been a month i saved all his pm's. Supposibly the sub got lost in the mail and it got shipped back to him but he never gave me a tracking number. Can someone do anything to check his name out and waht not? He has good feedback but still, this is a little sad........... Last i heard from him he said he was sick......

no. even if pics and price are listed, it is not a binding contract that requires the seller to actually sell it. so how would pics n price prevent scamming? if you dont feel comfortable buying something from someone because they have no pics, then DONT BUY IT. its the sellers loss for not posting pics and losing that buy right? and some people don't want to list their price so they can see what they can get as far as offers go.. so it's fair game..
