IMO it really depends on your electrical.
ill give you an example from discussion through PM's that i had with ngsm13. he runs a zx2500.1. which is rated at around 2500w. at the time he had a 220A alt, with 2 yellow tops.
with that setup he scored xxx.x db. he then used the exact same setup with a memphis 4kw amp. so he upped his power by about 1500w.
the 4kw and the kicker amp scored the same exact score. only when he added a THIRD battery did his score go up with the memphis amp.
why am i telling you this? well whats the point of having an amp that puts out more power, if you dont give it what it needs to make that power. its like you just lost money on the amp you sold, plus spent more on a new and bigger amp and yet youve gained nothing to the ear. even if you gain .5db by switching amps, its really a lost cause and a waste of money that could be better spent (if your not competing)
does the BTL need more power? i dont know, but im assuming it does. i really think you should sell the amp and go with one around the 3kw range and upgrade your electrical.
edit: and post your box specs, car type, electrical setup etc.
