In any event... based on my testing so far you can expect something like the following on mechanical power handling vs. ported box size on the SA-8 :

1.25 cubic feet = 300 watts

1.00 cubic feet = 400 watts

0.80 cubic feet = ~450-500 watts

0.60 cubic feet = ~500-600 watts

just found this....with those specs, each sub will have about 1.2 cubes before displacements so im thinkin maybe 1 cube or slightly less after all disp.

smaller box, higher power handling, so wouldnt 3 be pretty much optimal?

.6 is minimal ported, 1 cube is optimal, if you're dedicated to bass, you'd figure out how to get 5 cubes in there for the port and all four 8's
i know it CAN be done. i did that when i had my 18 in there, but i was alot of modifying and a pain in tha *** that i dont wanna deal wit again. Thats another reason i chose 8's this time.

Who down grades a system anyways??? I mean COME ON!!!

whenever i get around to starting on my suburban, i'll have a big ol' box but for now...i need compact but loud and Low!
i gotcha, I just have a really hard time believing that your TC's trunk area can only hold 2.6 cubes :/

the tc trunk is ridiculously small. i stopped at a local toyota scion dealership a month back, thats something they made a huge change from the his tc to the 2011. the trunk got way bigger.

my celica can only fit 16 tall, 34 wide, and 23 deep with the divider. and up to 22 tall without it.

I noticed that too. I guess that's why u recommended running 2. But if I have space.for 3 wont it b louder?

yes and no... theres a ton of physics here. lol. you can go 4 sealed. 3 barely ported.

2 optimally ported.

its really what you want.

i myself, would run 2 ported optimally with big power

but i am not in that situation. the whole saying more cone area = louder, but you'll be losing your % of available power to each sub since you will be running it at a strange impedance. say you getting 1200-1300 to them at 3, each is getting 400, 1200/1500 is only 80 of available power so to say to the subs,

where running 2 of them will give them a split 1500 ( more like 1600 since the amp is underated guranteed) so your getting all of the available power.

now thats not considered to much, for Jacob has run wayyy more power to a single SA-8.

your best bet will be trying both out, seeing what sounds better, gets louder, etc to your liking.
