I agree with pretty much everything said about the union workers being over paid.
Everyone my age (18-early 20s) would LOVE to walk into a GM plant and make even HALF of what people my dad's age are making to do mindless work such as install steering wheels/windshields/etc.
Unfortunately we can't. Meanwhile, you have people making $26/hr with benefits going on 1-2 hour long lunch breaks at the bar.
Then you have morons like an acquaintance of mine, worked at Chrysler making $26/hr (who yes, got into Chrysler courtesy of his daddy), DELAYED HIS BACK SURGERY FOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF.
Meanwhile, he's getting payed to do nothing, and then he wonders why he was finally fired after a year and a half. "Gee guy, they let me go. Now I'm losing my house and my V10 Ram and my Harley. I just can't believe it guy."
Why did sales drop 40%? Because the grunts making top dollar are no longer purchasing from the company that hands them their lifestyles.
The mentality of a lot of these people is that they deserve it, when they don't.
