should i buy some GM stock

What do you do at the tech center? Thats one complex I dont have.. I DO have GM Milford Proving Grounds though!!! w000000000t
As for mechanics making good $$ I fully agree with that. My dad is an ASE Master Mech, and while he has made good money doing it, his health benefits are crap, his retirement is his 401k, and his body is trashed (3 back surgeries, carpel tunnel in BOTH hands operated on, separated his Bicep from his shoulder... list goes on and on)
I don't work there anymore. I used to test the computer systems in the 09 Cadillacs.

sorry for her..............
My older family members on by toyota. I would buy stock in them instead of GM. Your talkin 20-30 years before you see stocks increase. By then oil will no longer be inexsistence. Save your money. Everyone else is. If your going to invest do it in a beer company b/c everyone is drinking heavily nowdays.
yeah but didnt bud get bought out by inbev or something like that? all other major american beer other than AB is crap and i dont want to invest in something foreign.

and i will bet you one illion dollars we have oil in 30 years. yet another person who buys into media propaganda and scare headlines

meh...toyota trucks and cars are ugly. i would take a ford or gm truck over a tundra or the nissan titan.im not arguing over which is better or who makes what where.

and i was being tottaly sarcastic with that immigarnt comment.

I know, and the "ugly" is irrelevant, my honda fit base model was the same price as a chevrolet cobalt, and the fit has a ton more features stock, power windows, power locks etc. That all is added value you get for free when buying non domestic

yeah but both those cars are ugly so you won on that deal. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
If you wanna post nonsense, post it somewhere else. As I stated the matter of ugly is preference. It is also completely irrelevant to the discussion. We were having an intelligent conversation.

**** calm down man. again still just mjessing around. i actually agree with most of your posts. lots of valid points from various people so far

really love to hash this out for a bit longer, but I need to get to bed so I can function at work tomorrow.. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
i asgree. i have to wake up early to take my dog to getneutered. poor thing. i feel sorry for him, even more so bc has absolutely no idea whats coming!

At most I would buy 100 shares. Hope that they do get a bailout and turn it around and you can make a couple hundred dollars. If they do go bankrupt you are only out $300.

yeah but is it really worth it for just a few hundred bucks

one last thing before i leave

should companies like this stop advertising if theyre in such bad financial straits? i eman GM half time shows, and official sponsor of this sport or that. and even nascar is in trouble. should they pull outof nascar? or is the advertising money, money thats already spent and cant get back? or is it such a small drop in the bucket that it doesnt really matter?

i mean if you expet help, you should be required to scale back on expenses somewhere right?

I agree with pretty much everything said about the union workers being over paid.

Everyone my age (18-early 20s) would LOVE to walk into a GM plant and make even HALF of what people my dad's age are making to do mindless work such as install steering wheels/windshields/etc.

Unfortunately we can't. Meanwhile, you have people making $26/hr with benefits going on 1-2 hour long lunch breaks at the bar.

Then you have morons like an acquaintance of mine, worked at Chrysler making $26/hr (who yes, got into Chrysler courtesy of his daddy), DELAYED HIS BACK SURGERY FOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF.

Meanwhile, he's getting payed to do nothing, and then he wonders why he was finally fired after a year and a half. "Gee guy, they let me go. Now I'm losing my house and my V10 Ram and my Harley. I just can't believe it guy."

Why did sales drop 40%? Because the grunts making top dollar are no longer purchasing from the company that hands them their lifestyles.

The mentality of a lot of these people is that they deserve it, when they don't.

Why should they cut back advertising? Their sales are down 40%. That's a huge part of their struggles as they are losing market share to Toyota. They are cutting expenses by gutting their US workforce. They just announced thousands of layoffs and job cuts. They are cutting retiree benefits. They are cutting costs.

GM is too much of a risk to throw thousands of dollars at. It will be a long time, if ever, before they will return to the blue chip company they used to be. If you buy a hundred shares at $3, and they go up to $10, that's still a nice little profit.

What is the difference between a big 3 worker making $25 and a Toyota worker making $25 an hour? New hires who can manage to get into the big 3, only make $14 an hour.

I do not believe a Toyota worker making $25 an hour to do basic work deserves $25 an hour either.

And as far as new hires, that is what they should be making, as opposed to mid $20s.
