even at .1 second slower, check out the price diff for the Ford...wow!http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupe/112_0512_exotic_sport_coupes_comparison/specs_price.html
Stock, the Corvette is .1 second slower than the Ford GT on the quarter mile.
well, here's a debate I really love. For those prices, I wouldnt buy those in a million years......here's why...............even at .1 second slower, check out the price diff for the Ford...wow!Corvette Viper GT
Base Price $65,800 $86,995 $153,345
Price As Tested $68,700 $87,695 $166,195
As stated drag times are irrelevant. These are not drag cars, they were never intended to do that duty.well, here's a debate I really love. For those prices, I wouldnt buy those in a million years......here's why...............
The $70,000 car can be destroyed by a well built car for 1/2 the cost. Example.
I'll use my stang as an example. Granted, its a strip only car, but .............
My car cost around $35,000 to build from the ground up. Its a fox body notchback, w/ an extremely built 349ci motor, twin 76mm hair dryers, and makes over 1300rwhp. Runs 8.30@165+ consistently. The suspension is drag only, but I can change that for $5000, and have the best on the market steeda/saleen/whatever suspension on it.
I can setroy ANY car on the road......unless another built like mine w/ huge power.
I even pull me 348rwhp turbo busa w/ my buddy riding it from a 40-170 roll. Now, w/ a suspension suited for a road course on it, It could hang fairly well w/ a supercar costing $150k-$300k
You're missing the point. If that was the goal people would just go out and buy a Noble. Even if you could build a foxbody for 35k or a road car for 70k making it fast would only be half the battle. It would still have to be safe, 50 state legal, easy to maintain, and most of all LIVEABLE. If speed was the only concern people would just go buy the 911 GT3 RS rather than the Turbo S, etc. etc.I would build an incredible G machine for $75,000....the cost of a z06, that could run circles around IT or any other car for that matter.
These cars out now are truly amazing.....not questioning that.....but for those prices, they BETTER BE!!!! I would never spend that kind of money on something that i can build for 1/2 the price.........let alone that disgusting price of the ford GT........F... that.
I thought the debate was a stock Z06 to a stock GT...........I know what it takes to drag race as well, been doing it awhile.
care to race your stang around an road coarse with a Z06?
I think you see my point.......
true and I kinda agree......but you cant honestly say these cars we are talking about are very livable.....barely.As stated drag times are irrelevant. These are not drag cars, they were never intended to do that duty.
And i'm calling BS on the claim that a fox body with 5,000 dollars worth of suspension work is going to be able to keep up with a Z06 or any supercar.
And bikes have absolutely nothing to do with this debate. If we want to go that route we could just pull in the atom and mention that it can **** near keep up with an enzo
