crack heroin and cocaine, hell no. marijuana and hash are the only drugs i think should be legal, the chance of addiction is very slim, it happens but its a mental addiction, the only withdrawels are being in a bad mood and lack of sleep. as for the harder drugs, the addiction rate is way too high; the withdrawals can kill people and people who are addicted kill, steal etc. for the drug. then their are phsycoactives(drugs that make u see pretty colors) these should remain illegal becuase your considered legally insane while under the effects of them, and no1 knows how any given person will react to them, people may beleive they can fly and jump out of a building so yea they need to stay illegal

just to be cool. Being cool is what it's all about.

There are a lot of ideas but very few facts. Studies conducted have indicated the legalization of drugs has no effect on the proliferation of it (in fact, the last 30 years in the US have taught us this lesson very well) and that there is no correlation between the legality of drugs and crime.

The main objections so far come from people who believe that legalization will cause MORE harm to society. Keep in mind that we're talking only about possession being legalized; we're not talking about selling crack to 14 year-olds at the Wal-Mart check-out lines. Anyways, we would actually be SAFER with every drug legalized.

1) The primary means of financial success in gangs comes from drug trafficking. Much like we did with alcohol prohibition in the 1930's, ending drug prohibition will take the money away from the gangs that sell it. Not only does this kill the gangs, but it also gets rid of the pusher who has incentive to sell you something more potent or more addictive.

2) Then we can regulate and tax the sale of drugs. This way the government can control the quantity and quality, as well as who it is sold to (ie. over 21 to protect kids).

3) The money made from taxation can be funneled into addiction counselling and ACCURATE drug education. And police forces could focus on actual crime with real victims.

The prohibition of drugs has done absolutely nothing to stem the demand for it; what we need to do is ensure the demand is met in the safest way possible, which opens the opportunity to curtail use through education and treatment. Think tobacco industry.

By the way, there is nothing that makes snorting a line of coke any less moral than taking any other drugs. Trying to pretend it is a question of morality, especially after promoting drinking cough syrup to get ****ed up, is simply stupid.

no to all.
too many dumb ***** as it is running around the US.

yes the gov will benefit from tax, but the increase in crime will just offset that. Who knows what else would result from drugs being legalized.

abuse, homicide, suicides, heavy machinery accidents, theft/crime, ca.com... etc.
You are a victim of the war on drug's propaganda, do you know that?
No study Ive ever seen/heard/read proved that drug, in and of itself, lead to desires to commit crimes. But many many studies have shown that the high prices for these drugs, based on their legal status and the only place to find them is the black market, does in fact lead to alot of crime in an attempt for the user/addict to pay for his habit. This is not to suggest its necessarily a good idea to just start handing the stuff out for free either, but to simply say using drugs will lead to a propensity to commit crimes is disingenuous to reality.

Alcohol is legal to consume in the US. Consuming alcohol and then driving heavy machinery is not only stupid, its illegal and is dealt with directly. If you are caught driving while impaired.... well we all know what happens. But when it comes to elicit drugs rather than alcohol, we are suppose to blame the drug itself, not the user?

Amsterdam wont be the same for much longer. Their incredibly liberal laws have allow/encouraged a large population of Muslims to settle there. Studies show they will become the majority there in a few years, and it is predicted that their extremely conservative views will completely remove those liberal policies in the Netherlands that allowed them to settle there in the first place. There should be a lesson learned from that, right? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

How much tax money would it take to regulate the end to end process of delivering drugs to the US people? When product gets too expensive what stops people from illegally producing and selling the drugs again, just as they are now? Then we have two ways to spend money regulating drugs...yay and stuff

And just because meth is legal is that going to stop some tweaker from stealing for money for more meth? Just because its legal doesn't mean its free...

HAHAHAHAHAHAH
You mean Liberal! Like hugely liberal. I hope you were kidding if not, then you don't know much about poltics....Republicans don't want the legalization of drugs, Liberals and Democrats do.
Small-government Republicans want it legalized. Constitutionalist Republicans want it left to the states. Rational Republicans want it decriminalized.

Keep in mind, though, that some of these Republicans are, in fact, far left wing classical Liberals (or the more contemporary vein of Libertarianism).

legalize them all them bring back corporal punishment for crimes too. The idiots that will screw up their lives on coke and heroin will weed them selves out after a while and use will most likely drop. Realistic goal that would be ok with most people is get pot legal tax it and get it away from black market. It being black market turns it into a gateway drug. Once its legal it will be harder for underagers to get it and hopefully separate it from cocaine and other real harmful drugs

It doesn't cost much for the government to regulate the private sector. In order for illegal production to compete on costs, they would have to be quite large and, thus, would have a hard time going under the radar. And how do these dealers establish selling networks if a person can go get reliable known product elsewhere?

And just because meth is legal is that going to stop some tweaker from stealing for money for more meth? Just because its legal doesn't mean its free...
How will that be any different then than now? At least with my approach, we can do more to prevent meth addiction down the road.
