Setting monoblock with DD-1

My Eclipse AVN726E headunit has a sub level (-6 to +6). So far I have set the gains when the sub level is on 0 with track 3 (-5db at 40hz). Is this correct? I have heard conflicting info on this.. some people say to turn sub level all the way up and some say set to 0. My headunit has 5v pre outs if that helps

Thanks I have read the manual but it is still vague to me. Cant you still have distortion/clipping if you ever raise the sub level at a moderate/high volume on HU?

Measuring a headunit only

1. This procedure will determine where the maximum unclipped volume setting of the headunit is. This is accomplished by setting the bass, treble, ect, to zero; and any EQs and crossovers in the headunit to flat. Later, when you set the amplifier gain(s); you can reset these to where you feel the customer will set them, or where you will set them for your own system.
