setting bassboost

it's usually a 1-band EQ.
Soundstream had the Hawkins bass, where you can choose where you'd like to boost, which can help if you know where you need boosting.
yea but the noobs don't know that or use them like that. my old mtx amp let me pick the frequency to boost or cut, so i know what you mean.

so it ok to set it on a low setting or it it better off? obviously it's bad to turn it up full blast! the amp im using is a jl 1000/1 v2 powering two w6 v2's

Alright guys i don know much.

But what i read and heard was Bass Boost Control (like in Kicker) is actually gain control. is that right? Im talking about REMOTE control not the one on the amp itself.

I mean i like using it coz for some songs i don want too much bass for some i do.

But i never/rarely turn it more than half way up.

Is that ok? or u still suggest not touching it at all?

AFAIK, the remote on kicker amps is only called Bass whatever, but it's really just a gain knob.

the remote bass boost knob that kicker sells with their amps is actually a gain control, the knob on the amp itself labled bass boost is different from the gain... it usually boosts one frequency, like an eq and is notorious for signal distortion...

Ok Just for confirmation for my kicker 750.1:

-- On the amp: Set Bass Bosst to 0

-- On the amp: Set Gain right

-- On the Remote control "bass boost=gain: set as high as i want?

if you have control of the sub level on the h/u i wouldn't even use it, but if you HAVE to use it, the maximum level of the remote knob will be the maximum of whatever the amp is set at... so as long as it is set correctly on the amp, turn it up all the way, it'll be fine...

Yeah my HU is Pioneer DEH-p5800mp. It has it but its so much quicker and easier to reach the gain control.

Appreciate the info guys and thx OP.

I honestly didn know that its better not to touch (leave it @ 0) the bass boost on the amp.

i set my gains to perform correctly, (matchin rca out voltage on h/u) and it's plenty lous when i want it to be... eq flat on h/u no bass boost or anything... and when i come to a stop, or see a cop, i push the att on my remote... i have a pioneer too... my amp is one step above yours, so if it's tuned correctly, it should be loud enough with just turning up the volume. mine is actually set a little conservatively until i get the 15"
