its just a default car, you cant pick and choose. it basically adds like 12dbs per octave starting at around 50hz

first off mock up programs have no use due to the fact of cabin gain, imp rise etc

second ported vs sealed is not really a debate on which is "better" each has an application where there are advantages and disadvantages...

its just an example of what typically happens between sealed vs ported. sometimes seeing graphs helps a person to see what goes on.

 
Ported 5 cubes net, tuned at 30Hz, 72sq^in of port area (6"x12" x 35.75"deep L-port)and your set.

The ported guy is right, in the entire 25-40hz range you should see at least a 4-5db increase.

The box size is your major consideration. If you can fit ported, go for it.

BBP does. it has graphs for system impedance, cone displacement, group delay, phase response, vent air velocity, max electric input power, max acoustic power, custom amplitude response etc

would this be big enough, kicker says min of 5.25ft sq and max of 7.05ft for 3 subs!

I would go at least 6 cubes for 3 of them. I designed/built an enclosure for a buddy for 2 cvx 12s that was 4.5 cubes at I think 33hz which was still a little small for the subs but they perform great paired with a zx1500.1 or w/e

 
one of the things that = sq is having a flat response, meaning every frequency is reproduce at the same volume. thats why ported are usually inferior to sealed when it comes to sq cause they usually have a peak in the frequency response which is why theyre usually louder overall
heres the in car estimated frequency response for JL Audios 12w6v2 in sealed (yellow) and ported (red) in recommended size and tuning boxes

While a properly designed, and tuned box will sound great and get loud, most people don't go through the trouble. They just get a sealed box and say, "ITZ FOR SQ". A ported box can get the same quality as a sealed box (depending on the driver, that is.)

Some drivers (Such as every DD sub ever made) are designed to be in a ported enclosure.

Anyone who sums it up as "Sealed for SQ, Ported is for going loud" is just wrong and ignorant.

An enclosure tuned lower will have a nice low response and a nice even roll off and flat response... A sealed enclosure with have a low response (Low response being that it's loud at lower frequencies.) and have a nice flat roll off response. That's why people associate sealed enclosures with SQ. Because of the over-all flat response given.

However, a ported enclosure can get the same flat response if designed correctly.

but does not account for every little difference from car to car and system to system etc...

Doesnt group delay play a part in ported setups as far as SQ goes? Also don't large low ported setups sacrifice some upper end response to gain the low end response? I remember reading alot of old style Re xxx users complaining of that with their large low boxes. I had an fi Q 15 in a big box tuned low and I thought it sucked on the upper end.

I would be curious to measure some systems sealed/ported in vehicle and see with cabin gain what the response curve really looks like.
