getting my front comps to sound like they are infront of me

playing them normal, i hear the drivers side more. using an iasca SQ cd, i was able to determine they dont play in the center. i hear the drivers side more. so i set the balance to the right +2 and it fixed this. but thats a problem, because then the passenger will only hear the right side and not hear the left...

what is it i need to do to keep them sounding like they are right in front of me cuz i hate hearing the drivers side more. i can barely hear the passengers side. i need them to sound like they are in the middle, in front of me. what is it i have to do??

I wouldn't want the sound to seem like it's coming from directly in front of me. Being on the driver side, that would cause for a left-biased soundstage.

so basicly its normal then? cause i really cant hear the passenger side. i mean i can, i know its there. but the driver side speakers drown them out

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

If you want the best possible sound from the drivers seat only, then time alignment would be a good place to start if your drivers aren't very close to being equidistant from you (i.e. door mounted speakers).

If you want good imaging from both seats, since you mentioned the passengers side imaging in your post......time alignment will only exacerbate the problem.

So, first we need to define your goals.

I found switching the phase of my components worked wonders.

I have the phase of my comps set up like this:

Left Mid -- normal

Left tweet -- reversed

Right Mid -- reversed

Right tweet -- normal

Reversing polarity on the right speakers solidified the center image, then reversing the polarity of the tweets relative to one another raised the soundstage. Don't ask me why, but I did it on the reccomendation of Eric Stevens and verified that it works using the IASCA CD. It really does sound better.

tweets are in sail panel, and mids are in my doors on an MDF ring. i want it to sound just as good for my passenger, where you are able to hear both sides, not just the side you are sitting by.
