Actually, I live in St. Rose. I just say New Orleans in my

I've been doing all of my own work. It's not the best, but I'm still learning. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nerd.gif.c6fa51ddf7ff75f1c0371fbc648f70ae.gif

Humm, how do you have everything set on your amp?

I have a CVX 12 in a 1.5cft sealed enclosure and I don't get any mechanical sounds of any sort from the sub and it moves pretty good too. I do get the coil warm from time to time, but still plays like a champ. I don't listen to songs that loud, that long anyway. So I just turn it down. I honestly don't know why mine smells as I have my gains pretty low though. I run an Autotek 750.1 to mine.

Volume on the head unit is usually between 24 and 32. Louder when using the tuner or with certain CD's.

I have my sub level on my HU at -10 (goes from +6 to -24). Then I can go up or down from there, usually around -8. LPF @ 100hz. Was at 80hz. Just trying to see if it would mix with front speakers better like this...

The gain a little less than half. Like one notch down from half.

The xover past half way (I use the LPF on my head, so I figure the one on the amp is useless.)

And the bass boost just over half (a little past one notch up from half)

SSF is off

EQ is as follows (as best I can remember): +3, +6, +5, +4, +3, +2, +1, 0, +1, +2, +3, +4, +3, +4, +3, 0. Actually, I fooled with it a bit today and I can't remember where I left it. Mostly the highs because this one CD was killing me on the "Ts" and "Ss."

BMX1

BBE "ON" +2

HPF front spk 100hz (was 125hz), 12db

Loudness is off

SLA +2

Can't think of anything else. I don't guess the wiring could effect this. I haven't upgraded my 4ga from the battery yet. Will be doing it this weekend to 1/0. But it's a 4ga from the battery (100a fuse) to block. 4ga to zx750.1 I don't know if maybe this could be a problem or not.

Turn BBE off.
I'd leave the BBE on depending on your listening material. What I would definitely do is kill that +6 on your eq. In fact I would change that eq back to flat until you learn how to use it without making a smiley face. (you old school people know what I'm talking about)

You should make cuts with an eq. Very rarely should you boost a frequency.

If none of the above works for you, I remember you saying you were running a 2.4^3 box. I would put a bunch of phone books in that box to take up some air space, just to see if a smaller box takes away that noise. A smaller air space won't let the speaker move as freely, and it might not hit it's limits.

Turn BBE off.
Seems to help a lot. I kind of like what BBE does for my highs, but it is most likely what was causing my sub problem. I can even turn the sub volume up higher now. Although it is a bit louder with BBE.

I need to sit down and just mess with the EQ more. It sounded pretty good like that so I just left it like that. But I guess I do need to read up on how to properly set it.
