Rewired Subs and Now i Smell Burning

then it's time to be humble and put up a thread asking for help in the area you may have to drive to get to someone near you but you may get to meet some new people thats always fun and you can get this issue solved, that or start testing the ends of each wire to make sure they are working correct just read up and go at it double check it all before you fuse it up to run.

I'd certainly be down for someone who knows what they're doing to take a look at it. Didn't realize people meet up from this forum. That's pretty cool. Seems like a good community here. By testing each wire, do you mean with a multimeter?

Ok guys, i might be retarded. I'm pretty sure this is how it WAS wired:

And like i said, when i rewired the subs i just did simple +:+, -:- across both channels. Is this my problem?

No wait, that image isn't accurate. I really should have paid more attention before i disconnected the leads from the amp. It's a two channel amp, and only one connection on each channel was used. No interconnection between the leads on the subs (unless there's something goin on in the box wiring wise which i'm unaware of).

So noobish. Please help!

If it's a 2 channel amp you need to wire it like the image you just posted, bridged on Channel 1 & 2. If you've got it wired any other way it's less than optimal or just fucked period. Just unscrew the subs and fix the wiring. Simple stuff mane.

Yeah man, i f&$&ed this up. I'm going to rewire it to the amp how it was previously, then replace the fuses and turn the gain real low. Hopefully i didn't brick my subs, amp, or both. I'm too **** old to be doing idiotic **** like this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

It's popping fuses and smelling bad because it's likely just wired too low. Rewire it, replace fuses.. put gain at NORMAL LEVEL. Play it. If you popped something, you'll know.

Also i need to do the big 3. I have a friend who can probably help me with that. Also the morons who originally installed the system (a shop) connected the power cap to the 4 channel amp powering the front?!?

Lose the cap as well bro. Get a small battery if you need extra power. You should consider swapping to a monoblock amplifier for the woofer(s). 2 channels are class A/B and less efficient than class D monoblocks.

I would have to do a lot of reading to gain the knowledge on how to remove the cap myself. I'm not looking to put any more money into the system, however i do have a couple of big, bad *** deep cycle wheel chair batteries lying around but i have no idea how to wire that up

Do a little reading. Google it. Visit Basic Car Audio Electronics as well as Car Alarm, Car Stereo, Mobile Video, and Cruise Control Info for Installers. Just do some reading, utilize the tools.. etc. You'll figure it out pretty quick & realize it's a lot easier than you'd think.

Well it's certainly not the update i wanted to post. I rewired it as shown in that diagram and replaced the fuses and i'm getting no sound from the subs. The amp is indicating its outputting a signal. I'm guessing I fried the subs. I'm gonna hope i just shorted out the speaker wire with the way i had it previously wired, but this isn't looking good. I'm gonna have to have a friend come by with his multimeter and start testing stuff...

Not very true at all. In some cases the wiring connections are easier when each sub is wired separately and then you just plug all 4 connections into your amp which will then bridge those together to get your desired ohm load. Either way it works but I think wiring them separately and letting your amp do the work is easier.

Splitting hairs.
