Questions about selling on Ebay with paypal... Just sold my first ebay item

bumpup.. can anyone tell me if I cancel a bid from the guy with 0 feedback, will the next bidder down still be able to buy, or once he was outbid, does his bid no longer count?
Why not just see what happens? If he stiffs you you can either cancel and re-list or offer a "second chance" to the second highest bidder.

Or you could cancel his bid...but NOT within the last 24 hours. Then again, it's supposedly against eBay policy to exclude 0 FB buyers. Really I've been stiffed by as many people with 1000 as with 0

im gonna be so pissed if i get hosed here.. i gotta set my buyers / sellers guidelines better, only PP payment and noone less that 10 feedback is a start

im not worried about the $$ as much since il know when PP has it, but just having him get it and say its defective or some shit.. cuz its brand new

I've been using eBay and PayPal for years to sell and buy shit...I don't think I have ever had a real problem.

Well, one guy was selling car audio and also had a shop, I won the bid on an item and then 24 hours later he e-mails me telling me he sold it for more money to an "in-store" buyer and I was shit outta luck. So, I reported him to eBay and he got tossed. What a douche.

The key to selling is to be completely honest and take enough pictures so the buyers know about any defect and can really see ALL of what you are selling. I'm also pretty hard ass when it comes to shipping, as sometimes my estimates can be off. If anyone starts asking for special favors (can you ship this to Tibet?) I tell them "No, it says North America Only idiot now go away".

As long as you are open and honest about what you are selling, you should not have any issues. Just know that most people on eBay are lookin' for a steal, and some are more pain in the ass than others.

Also, be prepared for most to purchase what you are buying via PayPal but with a credit card. This means that the credit card company gets a cut and it comes out of your winning auction price. Tends to **** a bit but that is how most purchase when using PayPal. Rare they have it setup to come directly out of their checking account.

wow, your lucky then. You can do all of that and still get scammed. All the guy has to do is say it showed up busted and file a paypal claim...besides, paypal sucks ***.

It's really stupid that when selling on ebay, they take a cut, then force you to use paypal (WHICH THEY OWN) so paypal can take a cut...

Well, like I said, typically I am very above board and to date have not been scammed. I use it off and on so it's not like I'm a heavy eBay user but I seem to know what to look out for and answer any and all questions I get about something I am selling. I've sold a fair amount of used car audio equipment over the past couple of years as I've upgraded and so far so good!

I do agree it sucks regarding PayPal but hey, I ain't doin' it to get rich, just get some of my money back when I upgrade to something a little nicer! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

when you sell how much will ebay and PP get off the sale then? like 1%?
I'd have to check...tough to say.

When it comes to PayPal and using a credit card, I think 2%-3% is the going rate? I'm not sure but that sounds about right.

As far as the eBay listing fee, that depends on how you set up the auction and if you chose all the goodies they offer or kept it simple. For selling an amp, for example, it will only cost me about $3 or $4 for the listing.

I checked some of my PayPal history and for lower cost items (under $50) the credit card rate seems to be around 4% of the price and it lowers to about 3% the higher the sell price. So, 3% to 4% of the price when a buyer uses a credit card.

good deal man thanks for the heads up ..really should have done some more research before jumping in to ebay.. Ah well, not much to do about it now.. Ill just know alot more on the next sale //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah, it takes some sales to get the hang of it...they don't make it easy for you to know up front just how much it's all going to cost you. Like I said, you won't get rich doin' it but it is a very convenient way to sell shit. Take some photos, upload, write up a description and post...it doesn't get much easier than that and you expose your item to a shitload of people.

You won't believe some of the shit I have found buried in my basement that I would typically toss in the trash but post on eBay first. 9 times outta 10 there is some idiot out there who will buy it. And if it is too big to ship, I just say "Local Pickup Only". You wouldn't believe how far some people will drive to pick up some junk that they paid for! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

and if you are new and sell a high risk stuff like your sub you cant get the money from paypal until the buyer has the sub and says its all good happened to me a few weeks ago

Really. Wow. I've been on eBay for about 7 or 8 years. I only have a little over 50 feedbacks as I use it off and on but I haven't experienced an issue like that. Good to know.

I've sold everything from furniture and amps to lightbars and firefighter turnout gear....can't recall they called any of it "high risk". Although they did get grumpy with my lightbar...they consider it "law enforcement" and red or blue lenses are a no, no...had to re-do my ad for that one and take all the red lenses off...but I did sell it! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
