questions about 18's

No offense but you aren't listening for **** shy why was this thread started.
He knew what he wanted perhaps he just wanted to check to see what everyone thought. I can tell you that the AQ/DD do not get low or sound good part is in no way true. I think he is making a great choice personally.

thank you at least some one understands lol, i was seeing if maybe i was comepletly off with the audioque's and it seems that they are not bad subwoofers for the price and I dont really care about getting that low anyways the box is going to be tuned to 38hz

eww

how low do u think then 36 or more like 32...........i think 36 is a good spot gets some high bass and can probley pound the lows good
If you have the money to spend on 3 18's you've got the money to spend on some mid bass woofers

Get those 18s, tune them to 30-32hz and then amp some midwoofers to get your higher bass notes.

these are tuned to 40hz and they look like they beat pretty low and shaking **** pretty nice and these are the copper coils on half the power im going to be doing so

You dont tune higher to get higher frequency extension, you tune higher to get enclosure tuning, where the enclosure/subwoofer is most efficient, closer to vehicle resonance, to mate the two together and increase output in that limited bandwidth. A sub tuned to 30 hz, or even less, should have no trouble reaching 80hz or so, where you'll cut it off and the mids will start playing anyway.

Maybe Ive forgotten, but I dont recall you telling us if this system is for playing music, or burping tones at comps. If its for competition, map out your vehicle freq resonance and tune accordingly. If its for music, ya, tune in the low 30's (probably, Im not familiar with the HDC).

You swaying back and forth from 38hz tuning to 30hz tells me you need to consider what I said above a while longer, before you start cutting wood.
