Pre out voltage and gain

Depends on the range of settings that the amp has. If the amp accepts only .25-4V then the difference would be more than if the amp could use .25-15V (and there are amps out there that will do that). The difference in the first example would be about a 25% increase in the setting for the same power output.

On a serious note, OP, the correct way to set the gain of an amplifier is stickied in this section at the top.
