painting sub?

hey i did some searching but didn't get some clear answers...some say doing just alittle is mass murder and one shouldn't touch it...others say you gotta spray half a can to even start to make a difference...

so whats the deal? if i was to put a small coat of primer on it, then one or two small coats of paint on the sub, would that be ok or a big no no?

don't worry the paint won't seep through....

why would you? but i don't know if it would hurt it or not
maybe you want it to match your car or its a really ugly pale tan or something and you want it black...i donno...something of that nature....

alot of pple are also saying it'll screw up your t/s specs, and i'm sure it may somewhat because of the added mass to the cone but anyone have any idea just how much really? if its even material?

I wouldnt. adding paint is also adding weight and density to the cone which will effect the performance.

and painting the S on the dustcap of a kicker is not much paint at all so Im not thinking it did much to it.

wont u get some nice grills and paint them
i will b doing that too as well...

anyways, doesn't seem like much pple has experience with this or anything much to say...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Thats about ur est bet, i wouldnt advise altering the state of the sub, its made to perform at its best the way it is from the factory, besides wiring

no offense but painting the entire cone seems like an extremly idiotic idea and seems like kindof a waste of time... ya i wouldnt do it reguardless if effects performance or not...
none taken but saying that its a extemely idiotic idea is pretty inconsiderate because different people have different wants...like i said, there could be an example of where someone may want it to match their paint job on their car...

you not doing it wheather it effected performance or not is a personal opinion...

anyways, like i said, its just a thought...i'm just weighting on the negatives of screwing up the performance vs the positives of getting that matching color and seeing if its worth it...not if its just "cool" or not or if you just wanna do it to waste time...
