opinion of sub performance (not the which is louder crap)

Mehh on ur first 2. Yea dd iv heard makes decent subs. Kno im just following hype but im kinda stayin away from ct sounds. Sundown mehh never owned them and never been really interested in them. I see them for sale all the time on local craiglist so if they r so gr8 y r ppl gettin rid of them. I think my thread should of included that im tryin to stay away from the foad style leads like my sp4. Direct leads to me work better and my 2 fi q 15s r proof of it compared to the sp4
*Sigh* I suppose my work is done here.

I don't know if DC fixed their soft part issues as far as reliability.
The original SMD was cool, but the V2 looks ugly imo. I wouldn't want to buy something branded with Steve Meade's name though

I haven't payed much attention to the crossfires to really form any opinions about them. I have no experience with that brand.

What amp will be on it?
Interesting. I did not know about DC Audio subwoofers being unreliable.

Is it possible they giving out because of burps or people are pushing them daily well beyond their RMS rating? or are they just in general of poor quality?

Failures I've seen were running over rated power, but still at levels where comparable subs (or the same subs with 3rd party parts) would not fail.

Mostly just poor quality soft parts

Idk I've ran dc audio and didn't have a problem. And I had a few buddy's running dc acouple years ago and no problems. It was prly user error... But crossfire and sundown is what I would run for woofers.

Well idk about the particulars as far as basket and other components i myself am not afraid to admit that i am a grasshopper when it comes to subs been tryin to research and teach myself. I kno the basics been not in depth as far as how a sub is built parts ect but i am trying tp understand it all

If any one tells you a cheap woofer is the same as one costing a bit more just look for yourself. The difference are easy to spot. Most of the times the motors have a drastic weight difference.

As for DC, as someone on the team for a few years I had nothing but failures. Trip joints mostly

Well thats helpful advice man i appreciate it i really do. Its always good to have someone with personal experience comment. Im just curious about some of the brands and how they perform. Dnt really want to drop a g on a sub if im gonna have issues but i guess that goes for all subs in a way

Gr8 info guys. Yea crossfire is deffinently on the top of my list. Been reading a little and good things come from it. I got a local dealer near by who basically gets every company to send him a woofer and he tests them out. It took him years to get sundown to send him one thats y iv always stayed clear from them even though ppl have good success with them. Them not wanting him to try there product got me skeptical. He puts them through there paces to see what they can really handle and he knos his stuff well. He also deals crossfire so i may take a trip to see him. He builds custom subs too so he could probably recone my sp4 as well

Got my Level 5 18s in. Considerably louder than the hdcs. Only wired to 2 ohm vs the HDC3s at 1 ohm. We will see how long it holds up. The previous owner had these for 5 years. we will see how long these last. I'm already prepared to rebuild these into custom monsters with upgraded parts if they ever fail.

Lol, another Soundqubed swap

hey, better sub is better sub right? You take what you can get with local deals. Especially at "i'm getting out of car audio and i need to sell REAL fast" prices. I wanted D1s originally but hey, my electrical system is barely even getting taxed at all now.
lol. touché my friend.

I think its some luck of the drawl too. Some parts will fail and some wnt. In our line of work we paint the lines on the road and we depend on good equippment. Bought 2 of the same exact parts one worked and one didnt
