Ok, newbie going to build my first box, my questions are as follows:
1: does the shape of the box matter, eg, a large square box, with a port outside the box? kinda shaped like a guitar case...
2. I have read and searched, and plan to use a ported box, firing towards the rear of the car, but since my sedans seats fold down should i turn the sub around and fire directly into the cabin?
3.the sub is alpine x-line 12", the ported box sizes from the instructions say:
---box dimensions: 13.5" x 15.5" x 20"
---Gross internal volume 1.8ft/3 ( does the shape matter?)
---Vent area 12" x 1" ( can this vent be added to the side of the box? sticking out?)
---Vent length 24" (huh? the box is only 20" by alpines specs)
---Vent displacement 0.29 ft /3 ??????what the?????
---F2, ripple, f3 : 28hz, 4.5db, 32hz ( what the hell is this info???)
so I need a box with internal volume of 1.8ft/3, shape doesn't matter?? (measured with styrofoam popcorn) , the port must be 12" long x 1" wide and 24" long 9 huh?)
