Newbie Requesting help

I'm glad to hear that.Just in case though jeff. What would you recommend for that 'Bass hits - Kicks chest' type sub : )?

Again for your reference, I run the JBL GTO-751EZ amplifier.
chest kick is easy to feel in rooms inside houses and nightclubs where the environment is relatively less noisy. Inside a moving car, its a very noisy environment. You'll need a lot of things to achieve this chest kick bass.

You also need to understand its very hard to have deep rumbling bass along with the tight gut thumping bass because those two are on the opposite sides of the spectrum.

-10-35 hz, you get a very shaky pressurized bass that just flexes the hell out of your vehicle, typical bass you hear in the movie theatres.

-35-50hz is the choke you out feel it in the throat type of bass.

-50hz to 120hz is the type of bass you feel at concerts like a punch in the gut/kick in the chest This type of bass is generally given off by big 18 or 30 inch pro audio subwoofers that are efficient, get loud but they dont get any lower then 50hz most of the times.

-Most car audio subwoofers are geared towards the low end spectrum of 20-60hz. Very rare do you get a sub that can play upper midbass and sound clean.

You'll need a musical and efficient subwoofer that can play up to 120hz cleanly

You'll need a horn loaded style ported enclosure or a 4th order bandpass geared towards a peaky response.

Or you can get proper pair 8 inch midbass that will play those chest thumping notes and leave the sub to play the frequencies it was meant to play.

First things first, gonna need a budget before I recommend subwoofers. Also I'm not sure what subwoofers you can get over in bombay, thats mumbai india right?

That is Mumbai, India yes. Most of us here tend to refer it to using the old name : ).

Officially, I'm limited to Pioneer, JBL, Sony, Soundstream, Ground Zero and Alpine as far as I know. However, I can Import almost anything through some dealers across the city.

Due to Import, the shipping cost and duties shoot through the roof. I have about 600 in your American $ I'm ready to spend but due to said duties my Budget would as a result be only 200$ in your local retail price Jeff. 200$ retail over there would end up costing me the equivalent of 600$ here after duties and shipping etc.

Ground zero, alpine and jbl are good choices, alpine type rs are the cheapest of the bunch, the others are very high quality SQ oriented woofers. Look around and see what ground zero subs you can get.

Ground Zero seems to be making an exit. Local GZ dealers claim customers weren't happy with the quality of the products, apparently unreliable items were sold. They are dumping stock at low prices. This is not something I would be interested in.

A member here PM'd me recommending SoundQubed HDS210. Do you know if it's a good brand for chest-thumping sub?

Also, It's rated for 600RMS and I think my amplifier puts out a bit more than the 750RMS it claims so would be it too much or that's ok?

What you are looking for comes down to the box. Also your amp may put out 750 watts when the voltage is perfect on a resistor. Once it's powered by the car on a speaker playing music it's not putting out 750. More like 200-500 average.

I see : 0...

So the matching HDS210 seems like tremendous good value for money Subwoofer then. Is it SQ or SPL orientated, If you would know?

Its a bit of both. It will sound ok but not as good as a purpose built SQ sub like a W6. It will get loud but not as loud as a purpose built SPL sub like the Atomic APXX.
With continued delays on the custom box for one reason or the other and now this recent tear, which has been fixed I'm happy to say.

I've decided to ditch the box change and instead upgrade to a brand new subwoofer altogether. This upgrade would take place perhaps another month from now.

I would like to thank everyone who helped me with my troubles and questions.

Especially Jeff, Thanks buddy! : )))
