Newbie Requesting help

That's a standard excuse that is probably said at least once every day. "They don't make them that way anymore". I don't feel that you need to stay with Pioneer, it's just a suggestion because you already have that brand in your vehicle. I don't know exactly which Pioneer car audio products you can get in your area, but I'm using the new TS-W3003D4 Champion Pro 12". I don't push my subwoofers as hard as most people, but it's doing very well for me in my system. I think it may get you the kind of sound you want a lot more than a burp box subwoofer.
My Subwoofer has SPL in it's name but is it really a competition only 'burp' sub? o_O

Dynamat and similar materials will not do anything to make a subwoofer kick harder. That will make it sound better, but the energy is still getting wasted by the resonances of your body panels.
Good to know.

I won't bother with Dynamat then.

Much appreciated : ).

Which of the 2@34hz models though jeff? #1 or #2 ? or either is fine?...

High SPL from bass traditionally means relatively high frequency bass from a ported enclosure tuned to 40+ Hz, not "crushing lows" at 30 Hz and under like the current trend. That higher frequency bass is exactly what you'd get in spades if you used your Pioneer SPL subwoofer in their recommended enclosure.

It's your call, but vibrations don't sound good.

Ok I listen to Hip Hop, RnB & Rock. Will this specific Subwoofer not be good for my type of music ? because going by what you stated It's sounding like maybe I should get a different subwoofer : (.

I'm tight on money but maybe I can squeeze something in : S.

Just make that ported box man. 34 hz is a good all around tuning for music. If you are more into rock then just make the port length on the 2nd port an inch or two shorter, it'll bump the tuning up to 35-36hz. Lower tuning = lower bass notes(car shaking drops). Higher tuning = higher bass notes(drum kicks and bass guitars).

normally classic Rock typically typically does not go that low on the frequency range generally 50 hz and up. Very some modern rock songs some songs play 35-50hz. Meanwhile most hip hop goes from 30-50.

A tuning of 34-37 hz would easily play these notes, just depends on which frequency you want to be louder with. It is all about tradeoffs with tuning.

Thanks.

I now hope to find someone who will craft this box as per specifications for me : ). I'll post back if I come across trouble or have any further questions regarding my system.

Would like to thank everyone for their input so far!

make sure they make that box out of Medium density fiberboard (MDF) or birch plywood or baltic birch. Anything made of particleboard will fall apart real fast.
Jeff, I've a problem now. My boot(Suzuki Swift hatchback) isn't deep enough to accommodate the 19" model. The 16.5" one might fit in but then there's another issue. The rear seats slant at a backwards slope angle and take up some more of the space in height : S.

I've taken some pics for you, The first one shows a scale measuring 18" in total at the base and the other one shows a broader view with the seats down.

I'm not at all an expert but perhaps a box with more height(can fit taller in here) to make up for volume perhaps?.

Look at the ones at 35 hz Its not too much of a difference from the 34hz soundwise but the dimensions are shorter. I see a 14D x 14.5H x 31L

I finally was able to find a carpenter through a dealer.

Jeff, He wants to know what kind of thickness the MDF should be of please? All other required dimensions he has through the Image print I took of it.

3/4 mdf, he can add pieces inside called bracing to make it strong. He'll need wood glue and screws.

3/4th is .75" in thickness?

I'll be sure to tell him about the bracing but I'm sure he already would know as speaker boxes are all he makes.

Yes .75 thickness.

I begun work on my upgrades yesterday afternoon. The box should be done and ready today. However, I came across an issue I'm hoping to get help with from you guys : )

There is a whistling noise as soon as the car starts, the HU is turned off or in demo mode but the 'whistling' noise starts as soon as I start the car i.e. power the electricals & they come from the 6x9s and components. Accelerating changes the whistling noise "tune" so does using power window switches. The noise started only after the new mono block was connected.

How may I fix this : S
