Newbie Questions

like i said Im an idiot some times and should know better but i dont.. i seriously never have 8s any thought i have the hardest time time understand the basics...
to me i'm thinking basic mathmatics... im a numbers guy lol

would possibly consider 4 8s.....

so based on have 4 cubic ft.... is 3 10s my winning combination?

p

No, you severely underestimate the amount of space woofers and port take up. 4 cubic feet starting out is just enough for a paiir of tens.

Here is an example of a 4 cubic feet gross box, pay attention to the net cubic feet afterwards.

rough estimate of dimensions ive been using are 40"W x 9"H x 26" D... .75 wood thickness .... and if i build into the spare well that should be good for another 1.25 to 1.75 or so... i currently have another battery in the wheel well but dont know how i feel building over it an no longer being able to access it..

You also underestimate how much port area you need. A 4 inch port aint sh*t. You will run into port noise problems and have severely limited output due to that. Theres a port area per cubic feet reatio you want to stay within, simple guideline would be 9-13 for aeros and 12 to 16 with slot ports. With a 4 inch aero in that box you are at 3.

My advice is, Re-evaluate all your knowledge on box building and do more research on proper port area, rear air velocity, proper airspace proper sub loading etc..

lol im not going to claim to know anything other than taking exterior measurements and putting them into a box calculator... im not going to be the builder.... i havent bought anything... im just wanting have as much knowledge as possible before i spend any cash...

back with another question... im looking for peoples thoughts on using .5" box material to keep box volume, likely birch since its strong???

down firing vs face trunk opening firing? which is tends to have better sound?

TTT never got an answer to my last question... plus one more....are there any cons to the big 3? like over charging?
No cons to the big 3 at all. Port facing tail lights is best in nearly all cases in a trunk. I'd only recommend .5 material for 6.5" subs.

Whats up guys back, with another question,

This time its about volt meters, how necessary is it to have more than 1 meter on mild 2 amp system? does it truly matter were the power to the volt meter originates? given all components are wired using the correct wire size

common guys i thought this forum was useful *jabs* //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/swordfight.gif.e3de6069f3ffe402fc3ab4a827365101.gif wheres the answers

another random question i have not directly related to car audio: LED lighting is supposed to save energy, most signal lights are around 30 watts+/- , being that you have to add a resistor to stop hyper flashing, are you really saving any energy (most resistors 50w 6 ohm).

Have the voltmeter connected straight at the sub amp. Just need one thats all.
