New Sub Woofer Companies

Okay.... Just seems to me that they are not up to par as they was then.. could just be the whole nostalgia of the older stuff that I started with... I guess if I actually took the time to read through data and designs and so forth I would understand better. Thanks for the reply man
Much of the old items were designed to work far better at their rated rms and with different goals...new stuff..well it gets loud and is made to handle way to much power/heat. Some of it is for sure the.... " I remember back when" lol....but with the advent of power becoming cheaper then gas...well subs had to follow.

I want, bet it handles 4 ns1's with ease

The reason is many are using college loans to purchase subs at bulk. It has become common knowledge on how to contact the build houses so everyone is jumping on the wagon.
A few are doing custom tooling, but 99% are just snagging parts off the shelf.
Exactly, just call up Jinlida, get a catalogue and point to a picture, mail in $5000. Tada!!! All new super-fantastic-uber best moofers-evar!@ Pre-order now!

yup. simply point and order. get a "prototype" that is simply an off the shelf china woofer with crappy china coils, crappy china glue, and crappy china cones and spiders. In dealing with china personally i know that you will always geta large amount of failure eveyrt ime. but dont worry the next time you place and order it will be "moe cheapaaah and moe bettah!" Its only a matter of time when people start to realize that spending their hard earned dollar on some quality speakers is worth while.

that being said, about motor design, off the shelf drivers are nothing more than a .5" top plate (if your lucky) and extra .25" rearward clearance, most likely misaligned ferrite, a MASSIVE gap (to allow for a tolerance for assembly for the $2 an hour "speaker engineer") and a pole vent that is not even centered.

WTF is going on in here? We don't talk audio in the dome.
I kept it out of General because I figured there would be tons of flaming going on... but **** its actually been quite decent so far...

"flaming will start soon now that i said something"

actually, you would get less "flaming" (do people still use this term?) in General because we're not allowed to Troll the other sections. Here, you're open to anything from pedobear to 2girls1cup up in huuurrr....

eh... postin in here just keeps the mods less busy with deleting posts.... not sure on the term anymore lol... I tend to not flame/troll much at all specially since i'm at work a good part of the time i'm on here.

Not the look of the motors... I honestly can care less what the motor looks like as it sits inside the box for me.. But say you take the HC design or even the XXX design the older ones... the Adire Brahma design xbl^2 motor... just from owning these... and running the newer stuff that is out now... I just keep wanting to go back to these older ones, they just sound better "to me" and seem to just out perform "AT Rated" completely better than most of everything I have ran that has came out in the last 3-5 years"ish" I know there is better subs but for when they was built to now, I just feel that everything should of been doubled as for performance, power handling, and so forth.. I have seen a lot of the older people that has been doing this for 20-30 years saying that the xbl^2 design is still one of the best designed motors out there... Like I said i'm not all that into the actual motor design and so forth which might be why i'm thinking nothing has been greatly improved upon.
those are the exact things that drove me to drop a woofer line...

Theoretical question...where is the magic line? On one end of the spectrum you have cheap crap, but on the other end it gets to a point to where all you're paying for is a brand name. Where does 'bang for your buck' meet 'point of diminishing returns'?

i have always felt like a drivers value should rest balanced between the sum of its parts if sold separately and its performance capability. A generic driver (mid q, mid Fs, mid Vas, all purpose muddy driver) to me is only worth its value in parts etc.
