New Sub Woofer Companies

one company I can think of comes to mind

There have not been huge leaps recently other then various types of motors. The big thing is figuring out what works best together right now. Everyone wants cheap and then complains about them breaking when they put 1krms to a 600rms sub. Or they are running in the lanes in street beat style classes and a driver fails.
So right now there is less focus on massive improvements in anything other then finding the best compilation of parts. While there are always altering materials and such, it is still a balancing act and various companies put different things in their balance as more important then others.. Other wise every sub would be 100% the same...which they are obviously not.
Is there a huge cost in the 2.5" and 3" coil motor? and if the coils is so much going from copper to aluminum coils should cut down the cost... I just expected a lot more improvements over the past 10 years than what is out there now.. I just remember for 4 years or so there was just so much improvement on each new driver coming out when everyone was trying to put out the best sub.. when RE and Adire had their little war of the best subs... the HC/XXX the MKII and so forth... and the AV.2 from ED even tho they stole their complete motor design from JL i believe if I remember correctly. even when Kicker was doing overhauls ever year it was nice to see...

Maybe I'm wanting to much from a company to just say fsck it and do a complete overhaul and come out with something that will make everyone else rethink their designs and push everything forward again.

I can get you to leave em..will be easy haha

I can work on that for you no problems. Might get some slight issues with loading but if that is what you want we can get it done.
what do you mean by issues?? and what do you have besides atomic... its hard to beat the prices they give me bro...

When American Bass was started, the owner had 0 experience with audio or any kind of electronics. He has no engineering background or formal education or any of that stuff. I was amazed when he told me that.

I do like seeing all the companies competing for our business though

What you are talking about is just different motors. Now there is a focus on what is not different to the eyes. Basing everything on various companies going out of their way to use different looking motors was not really that "huge" of a leap at all. In many cases what has been done more recently far out weighs what was done then. I guess if you want that "look" then you are stuck..but the performance we can get out of a 2" or 2.5" coil driver is very impressive now.

Copper and Aluminum will be a debate depending on who you ask. Just like flat and round. There are different thoughts on each and that is keeps this industry going. Everyone wants to prove they are right(or wrong in some cases).

Motor prices are very cheap if you just snag predesigned motors. Even tooling is not all that bad if you want something custom.

Not the look of the motors... I honestly can care less what the motor looks like as it sits inside the box for me.. But say you take the HC design or even the XXX design the older ones... the Adire Brahma design xbl^2 motor... just from owning these... and running the newer stuff that is out now... I just keep wanting to go back to these older ones, they just sound better "to me" and seem to just out perform "AT Rated" completely better than most of everything I have ran that has came out in the last 3-5 years"ish" I know there is better subs but for when they was built to now, I just feel that everything should of been doubled as for performance, power handling, and so forth.. I have seen a lot of the older people that has been doing this for 20-30 years saying that the xbl^2 design is still one of the best designed motors out there... Like I said i'm not all that into the actual motor design and so forth which might be why i'm thinking nothing has been greatly improved upon.

We should pool our money together and start a Ca.com brand sub
That would never work...to many opinions and everyone would want to get paid from it. 90% chance no profit will be made the first year or two...or longer depending on the direction one went.

Indeed.

A lot of that will be personal opinions to be truthful. I can understand as I have a soft spot for many products that I know 100% for a fact to inferior to others..but good luck getting that through to me lol.

Overall newer subs are over built because power is no simply cheap and typically "dirty"(clipped).

You have to remember the industry is totaly different now then it was then. If you don't build the product to keep up with everything else today you will not make it. No matter how "good" you make it.

Okay.... Just seems to me that they are not up to par as they was then.. could just be the whole nostalgia of the older stuff that I started with... I guess if I actually took the time to read through data and designs and so forth I would understand better. Thanks for the reply man
