After countless setups, I can say that this will be for the most part the final compilation of parts. I plain and simple won't feel like upgrading from this setup anyway lol.

Some of you may know my previous setups, nothing crazy. First real sub-stage was a 12'' SE. Second was a PSI flatwind SE 15''. I am not a Resonant Engineering nut-huger, it just sorta worked out that way.

The equipment will find it's way into a new car over the summer(got my eye out for a Tahoe/Yukon) so I had Dave(Team PSI) turn it into a 18'' at the last minute. "It", is my new 18'' RE XXX, starting it's life as a 12 who eventually died from blow tinsels(I picked it up as a blown 12''). Basket was color coated black and push-pin terminals were added to leave this XXX as a one of a kind creation. Dave does work, end of story.

Lil run down of what I have gathered over the last year or so to go into this build...

XXX of course

Box is going to be 4-4.5 cubes sealed after displacement. I'll draw it up in a bit.

Some pics of the car and some equipment to get the ball rolling...

Turns out the sub's basket got a nice little bruise during shipping........... You can see it in the 3rd pic a little bit. It sits 1/2'' higher than the rest of the gasket at that point.

Sub was picked up by UPS today. I won't have the sub back for at least 1 month so I am just going to pick up a 12 in the mean time. I need to finish up the build and there is not point in waiting a month to do so.

So....... I think I have a 12'' lined up. It will be 2.5cuft to 32, sub back/port back.

I'll keep it going.

Finishing up the Big III tomorrow along with the speaker wiring into the door and some final deadening.

Pics to come tomorrow night and maybe some videos of 250rms per door lols!

Kevin

Everything will fall into place.

This really gave me an excuse to just pick up another sub which I am quite happy about. To be completely honest, I would not have kept the 18'' in the car 100% of the time anyway.

Kevin

Got a TC9 12'' coming in the mail with a blown coil. I will just run it on the remaining coil till it aggravates me enough to order a recone from PSI.

Kevin

What is this heavy fuggin box?

Oh, got the TC9 Saturday. Just got around to checking it out. It is a **** shame that I'll have to ditch these sexy soft parts when I go to recone....... Reconing it for 1500rms. Going to throw some translucent blue on the basket and might paint the motor black too.

The bend was a lot worse in person. If the peak of the bend was right at the mounting hole, I would have just tried that, but ****, it was an expensive *** recone. Seriously. I paid a lot of money for that build to receive a fawked up sub. Thanks UPS........

Kevin

Little fair update I guess.

Pics are now limited. I am off at college and left the camera back at home.

But the PPI 365cs comps are in, and I hate them. Only thing I enjoy about them are the tweeters. Crisp details. But for 220-240rms per side, these thing are not getting anywhere near as loud as they should be. I need to stop riding the forum boners lol......

I wrapped the pillars in black suede. Was like 10 bucks for the suede and glue needed.

Camera's flash made my door panels and dash look blue, but everything is black. Looks sooo good. I am going to do the deadline next time I pull the car apart.

My Alpine f540 does not like being bridged, at all. After about 30 minutes at high volume, it begins to smell, and is so hot that you can not lay a single finger on it. Not happy about that. I am going to take it active in hopes of keeping the ALPINE alive. I am going to go active with PPI's tweets and mids to start, and then might try the new Exodus mids, or the MLI65 mids.

Here is just a little vid. Song sounds good on the PPIs. It might sound crusty on the vid because it was at a really high volume and I had the tweeters bumped up too.

C+C always welcome,

Kevin

Are your doors sealed up? I'm not entirely happy with the output of my mids on the PPI's either but my doors arent sealed. My sub almost drowns them out and its only getting 320w right now. I hate to see when I get my DSC2000 on it. Nice build so far.

When I get my 2000, I plan on bridging my 480 to my comps. That will be 320 per side. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
