Not that I'm in any way defending the product selection or placement of the Almighty Kuthe…but you've mentioned 6x9's being an issue in other threads and how poor of a choice that is…please explain this further. When i was 15 i knew better to aim any speaker at the window. To think you bought those highs and are using 6x9s with a dsp holy crap. Its too much for my brain to handle. I mean some 7" dayton references would sound worlds better for 120$ of a solid 75 per side.
I sure hope firing the PHDs off my windshield can result in some great mid/high bass response, as poor as the mounting location is.Not that I'm in any way defending the product selection or placement of the Almighty Kuthe…but you've mentioned 6x9's being an issue in other threads and how poor of a choice that is…please explain this further.
I have stated in response that a 6x9 as a dedicated mid bass (running about 60hz-400hz) is actually a GOOD choice if you already have the factory opening for it. A 6x9 has roughly the same surface area as an 8 but it has the convenience of being a drop-in installation.
So what's wrong with a 6x9 mid bass?
Also one of the very best sounding systems I've ever installed/owned was a set of PG Titanium Elite 5's and tweets (Morel Elate's) in the DASH firing off the window…mid bass was a set of 9inch Morel Elates in the doors…sounded out-fvckin-standing.
Firing off the windshield can yield great results.
Good results from glass firing seems to be mostly based on angle of the glass and distance from the glass. I had a 2004 Dodge Durango and the forward-most dash panel is removable and underneath is a small cavernous area that's mostly a solid piece. I sealed it as best I could, deadened it, added a lil poly, deadened the underside of the panel and installed the mids and tweets right next to each other.I sure hope firing the PHDs off my windshield can result in some great mid/high bass response, as poor as the mounting location is.
And I REALLY hope I can use this Alpine DSP to tweak the sounds of my system in a very beneficial way. Gonna have to see.

Stick to the subject dude. You go off base a lot and I noticed this not just in this thread but others as well. Proper way meaning there's no reason to remove the windshield. Go re-read what I responded with if you want a more detailed info on a proper installation. The "proper" way? Says WHO??!!
I rarely do things the "proper" way as that involves giving others the authority over ME! I mean, I have to do that right now for my current career, nursing. And I voluntarily went into nursing as a way to earn a living with is very hard to outsource to China, India, etc. And I will do this self-imposed restricted profession until I RETIRE!! Soon!
And I'm OUTTA HERE soon too! I'm sure I'm gonna have questions about this DSP unit, but I don't expect any help off this board! I have a few good online contacts I may ask some questions. None on this board, too much.

Prob wanted to remove the patient's door to his/her room when unnecessary :lmao:You explain something....that would be the DAY!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif
Back when I was 18. I got to buy cigarettes. Back when I was 21, I could buy my 1st drink at the bar. When i was 15 i knew better to aim any speaker at the window. you gonna have to ditch the passive Xover then...And I REALLY hope I can use this Alpine DSP to tweak the sounds of my system in a very beneficial way. Gonna have to see.

Depends on the vehicle. The low slanting windshield of the 2006 Grand Caravan may look cool and lower air resistance but it also makes working on stuff up in the top of the dash area VERY difficult. Power tools are pretty hard to get in there to do some good work. I can stand outside the vehicle and look through the windshield glass which is inches away from what I need to do some work on and I just think about how much easier it would be to do if I could just pull the windshield glass out.Stick to the subject dude. "Proper" is a subjective term meaning based on people's OPINIONS! And my opinion is that doing some comprehensive modification work in the "top of the dash" area would be a LOT easier if the windshield were removed. A lot more room to work.

Personally I dont know what the big deal is ? If its easier pull that ***** out ! Didnt the speakers cost $600 ? Pulling windshield and reinstalling wont cost much , $ 165 in my truck with new windshield so without would be much less. I personally have never needed it pulled out for stereo work but I have taken everything else out ! Jeez almost had take door off to get my sub enclosure in as it almost didnt open enough. But If i couldnt get what I wanted done with winshield in the way I would have yanked it out. I mean whats 100 bucks if it allows you to do a better job than when its in ?Depends on the vehicle.
