My install's coming along nicely

What happens when I show you photo EVIDENCE we have the remote-on wire connected just fine, but the DSP still needs the RUX controller plugged in to turn the DSP on and off?
John Kuthe...
Yes John...the RUX DOES have to be connected (or an AI-net HU) this has been covered.

You state that when you activate the HU the RUX and DSP do not power up....that is a direct result of an incorrectly connected remote turn-on wire.

So sure...get me photo proof that you tagged the correct wire...while you're at it you can test it. Or you can settle for 'pretty sure installer guy wired it right...even though it doesn't work correctly'.

Best part is he bought 600$ comps and 6x9s for midbass.. Lol
What's wrong with a 6x9 for midbass?

I'm currently running a pair of AudioFrog GS693's bandpass 60hz-400hz, complimenting my AF GB25's and GB10's...My vehicle has factory 6x9 openings so why not choose a driver that maximizes cone area? By way of comparison my AF693's have an SD of 221 cm2, a JL ZR800-cw has an SD of 215 cm2. Within the limited bandwidth and in my case only 100rms per driver, excursion isn't an issue.

I'm no expert...how much beaming occurs with a 6x9 within a bandwidth of 60hz-400hz?

Really surprised no love for the 'by nines' around here.

Just installed the final sound deadening to the Driver's and Passenger's doors. First I made small thin metal patch panels for the smaller of the two big holes in each door just above the 6x9s in the doors:

then installer guy installed a bunch of the BQuiet panel deadener I had purchased before discovering and purchasing 20 sq ft of Damplifier Pro, already installed.

Not perfect but a HECK of a lot more like a speaker cabinet!! :) Oh, and no pics but installer guy glued with high temp spray adhesive from Second Skin a big single fitted sheet of Luxury Liner Pro to the inside of the plastic door cover, VERY effective too! We had to tear off and discard the cheap sound deadener Chrysler spot glued on.

I notice the improved bass response out of the 6x9s in the doors a LOT! I almost don't need a subwoofer now! But one is coming! :)

Weak.
I mean who the hell put's a 6x9 in the front door?
I do.

Infinity has a new Kappa Perfect 6x9 mid bass that looks pretty sick. Audio Frog will be releasing a GS 6x9 midbass driver next year. Morel Has a really nice 6x9 Tempo Ultra series driver. Do I even need mention the ID XS-69's…fukin legendary midbass.

If you can add a smaller midrange into the mix then the front doors are a great place for 6x9's…the cone area of an 8 with the easy of drop-in installation….for midbass duty, what's the downside?

Serious question, are you going to have the tweeters in the 6x9's powered?
Or are you band passing them? If so what are your planed frequencies?
I'm pretty sure the SPR-69s have a small capacitor to protect their tweeters and provides crossover rolloff for the tweeter. Basic high pass filter, can and is being done with one capacitor, I'm pretty sure. I can't find a pic of one.

I don;t think leaving the stock tweeters on the SPR-69s is gonna hurt a lot. Yes the tweeters off the two PHD 5.25" top of the dash driver's tweeters will be separately amped and through the DSP separately.

John Kuthe...

Oh, and just wanted to add!

I was just out IN Baby II listening to the Alpine HU and the door (and rear) SPR-69s and OMG!!! I now realize the need for time correction! The sweet spot of listening is like kissing the HU right in the middle!! I want THAT sweet spot moved to where my head is as driver! Need TIME CORRECTION! :)

And I'm starting to hear the majic! Just on the power of the HU! I am very excited!

John - you will not get proper staging at all using the door speakers as full range.

You will not be able to do any time alignment using them like that either.

I was hoping you were going to set your front stage up as a 3 way

door speakers running 60-250 hz

dash speakers running 250 - 4,500 hz

tweeters 4,500 and up

That would be the best way to setup your system based on the equipment you have.

Thank you, good numbers. I'll take that under advisement when I go full active.

I'm not going full active yet, just taking this in baby steps. I'll take for now anything the H800 DSP can do for me with my current system as it is now.

Well. Boomin_tahoe is pissed at me because I busted him for LYING!! So he will never have anything nice to say about anything to do with me or my system.
