after work ill put another section of fiberglass on it

4-11-07

well the last layer is finally dry, there was one spot that had a major air bubble so i grinded it out and put 10 small layers on that spot, turned out very well. I learned alot of the mistakes i made while doing this tube so the 2nd tube should go pretty quickly. BTW, the home depot Bondo is very thick compared to the automotive Bondo, so I have to head to advanced and pick up a gallon of that, it was much easier to work with.

Heres some pics of the final layers, here you can see the spot of the 10 extra layers on the one spot, i put 9 really tiny layers in the spot and 1 large one to cover them all up, luckily enough it turned out even with the rest of the layers  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gif

Im gonna put some body filler on saturday so itll give me time to sand it down in the green stage and hopefully it turns out good, Im gonna pick up the cheapest craftsman plunge router and a 1/4 bit so i can start cutting holes for the sub and port and if I like the way the body filler turns out I'll get some black and light blue spray paint and paint them up, If not ill get some more carpet and carpet it up.

Applied some body filler on the tube, it dried pretty quick. Sanded it down which wasnt really all that bad took about 1 hour with 40 grit paper and an orbital palm sander. There is lots of high spots but i'll throw some more on tonight after work and finish it up this weekend. I really dont like the plastic spreaders because you cant make things even, it flexes to much, but the filler doesnt stay on it so thats a plus I guess. Im gonna use a round over bit after everything is nice and smooth to clean up the edges.

another shot

thats it for awhile //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

What are you doing about that engine, a K series (w/ full 5 lugs too) swap would be nice.
I was thinking of swapping it out for a integra motor the b18 i believe it is or a b16a not sure yet, Ill probably drive the d15b6 till she dies I love the gas milage //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Here is the carpet I purchased on cardomain, the color is almost the same as the trunk carpet so im happy with that. Im gonna use that for the battery cover and if I dont like the way the tubes turn out I'll just carpet them. But maybe in a different color, who knows

4-15-07

put 1 last coat on the tube

the best circle cutter ever with my new plunge router

picked up some paint for the tubes, this is the color

the sandable primer

the black for the ends

some wood for the battery cover

1/4" thick

a few practice holes for the port, I wasnt sure what the size was but got it after 2 cuts.

cut the port hole in the tube then I took a 1/8th" round over bit to the edges
